For Christmas I received an Archos tablet and my headphones jack stopped working. Instead of playing sound through headphones while they're plugged in, it plays through the built in speakers. Is there
I've already checked my headphones work in other devices and I have tried other headphones in the tablet.

Make sure you push the headphone plug into the jack completely. If you're sure that it is, then the jack on the tablet has failed. The sound gets switched from speaker to headphone in the jack itself.
I would suspect that a lateral force has been applied to the headphone jack of your tablet. This occurs when you accidentally pull the headphone plug out at an angle instead of straight in line with the jack.
You might be able to find a repair shop to fix this. It might cost as much as the tablet. If under warranty you could try to get it replaced but Fujitsu is terrible in this department.
It is ALWAYS wise to get an extended warranty for consumer electronics. People tend to not do thi9s because they shop primarily by price and the extra warranty drives the cost up to high at the time of purchase. Then comes this kind of problem and you wonder why you didn't spend the extra 20 bucks.
"No sound on external speaker" problem is often caused by:
- damaged speaker,
- damaged headphone jack,
- damaged audio codec (hardware).

There are many service technicians with high-level experience, which may help you to repair your tablet.
This can be a hardware (bad headphone jack) or a software (rom update) issue. If the tablet is in warranty, try taking it to your dealer and see if they have a fix.
Otherwise, some people have had success doing one of the following:
1. Plug headphones in after starting music. Watch for headphone icon to appear on screen, meaning tablet has recognized that headphones are attached. Make sure plug has been put into socket all the way.
2. Install app SoundAbout on your tablet and see if you can route sound to headphones only.
3. Check Settings/About Device to see if there is a software update for your tablet. Install the update and see if that fixes the problem
If the sound works on your Kindle Fire's speakers and will not cut off and reroute sound to headphones when you plug them in to the headphone jack port on the side of the Kindle. Try the following:
If you have a set of blu tooth headphones then enable blu tooth connection to a source of sound like, You Tube, Spotify iTunes etc. You will be able to hear sound on your blu tooth headphones this way. Turn of the blu tooth headphones, then try plugging in your regular wired headphones into the Kindle and reconnection should be achieved.
I have the same problem. No sound at all on my Archos Cobalt 80 tablet. Hasn't been dropped, bumped; just suddenly stopped working. Tablet has been formatted, soft and hard reset, backed up and restored to factory default settings, updated the firmware and still no sound. Any help is appreciated thanks.
try using different headphones. if that doesnt work then it is either a operating system or hardware issue. reset the device after backing up your data. if that doesnt fix it then you need to get your device serviced.
My son and daughter got a new Archos 28 each for Christmas, my son's has stopped charging. I of course can not find my receipt and Kmart wont take it back. How else can I get this fixed? I paid too much money for this thing for it to stop working in just a couple of days....Can anyone help me?
