Hi Joe Spect. Still trouble in your XP80?
Let me tell you: I fixed some Roland´s keys where the problem was as you said, and the battery was perfect. In one case, the problem was a tiny PCB track dissapeared by corrosion. In other cases there was a problem in the battery measuring circut, caused by malfunction of a discret component or a soldering connection loose.
I hope it can help you

It's always possible the new battery had lost it's charge before it was installed. Check it with an ohm meter for it's voltage. Other than that, either the contacts in the battery holder may be in need of cleaning or the battery wasn't installed correctly.

You need to replace the battery. It will most likely be a coin sized battery in a slip in holder on the main board. If you need help, here is ROland Customer Service contact info-

Why wont my roland JW 50 keyboard turn on. I have the correct adapter. Has a circuit blown or what could need replacing?

Does it have a place for batteries? If so try that. If that works then you know something is wrong with adapter, or connector. Have you made sure you have the polarity correct on the adaptor. Generally the center is positive, but not always. Do you have a miltimeter to test the voltage on the adaptor, 9 volt sounds low on a device like that. Try those an get back to post.

My roland xp-50 keyboard is dead.

Ok guys. Just got mine XP50 fixed with the "No Display" problem. The LCD screen was blank without text and only shown orange color. The problem is one of the capacitors on the main board was dead. I have replaced all 3 caps on the main board and the problem is solved and if you are a little handy on soldering, you can do it yourself. The 3 caps you should replace are:

- C901 (I used 16V 330MicroF)
- C65 (I used 5V 4.7 MicroF)
- C 902 (I used 16V 330 MicroF)
