Test mode? Do you mean Service Mode and you turn on the solenoid for the water valve to divert water to the Fabric dispenser reservoir and it is flushed in Service Mode? See if this solution will help with your trouble shooting. Let me know if I can help……Rich

sud's ( like to much soap ) this causes the machine to shut down . mix some downey of fabric softner in a quart of water . pour it in tank . let set over night . and try again . fabric softner will get rid of suds or at least reduce them . it will probably work .. mm
you should have a small amount of water in the resivoir this is part of the siphon system
but you do want to keep it clean every 4-5 loads put it through the dish washer
not good. the board usually tells the dispenser to activate and send water to you fabric softner, ive seen two different problems on the maytags, your water valve could be bad or clogged or the board is bad.
Dot,
If your machine is a FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW See if this post will help you.Once the Fabric Softener top is removed you can flush the dispenser and run some pipe cleaners thru the exit ports to help remove some gunk.If there is a water flow issue into the Fabric Softener dispenser then further investigation may need to take place.I discuss how I would start the troubleshooting for that as a possible issue.Rich
Check to make sure the litle cups are set in place correctly and also make sure they are not blocked with hard fabric softner. A quick test: pour water directly into the fabric sofnter cup and fill it up,IF it siphons out, you will need a new inlet valve for that unit. The inlet valve has soliniods on it for the bleach & fabric softner.
fabric softener goes into the dispenser. it may be a full blown solenoid valve -or- a flapper type of solenoid valve. operation of the solenoid operates a flapper to let the softener out. go to an appliance repair site to find the solenoid - appliance parts dot com or repair clinic dot com.
