The
eShop is not pre-packaged on many of the older 3DS handhelds and you're
going to need to update your system in order to gain access to it.
1. Make sure you're connected to the internet and go into System Settings. 2. Go to "Other Settings" 3. Select "System Update".
After completing the system update, Nintendo eShop should appear on your main menu. If you don't have an internet connection, however, this is not going to work and you will need to connect to a wireless network.
Getting the free games will require you to have either performed a system update or connected to the eShop some time PRIOR to August 12th. The games are not currently available in the eShop, so if you don't see them yet, don't panic. Nintendo has announced it will make the 10 free NES games available as of September 1st, and the 10 free GBA games will be available "before the end of 2011". The announced game list, so far, is:
Netflix is now available through the Nintendo eShop. If you do not have access to the eShop, make sure you have updated your system. Here's how:
1. Make sure you're connected to the internet and go into System Settings. 2. Go to "Other Settings" 3. Select "System Update".
After updating, you should have an eShop option on your main menu. Open this up and go into Applications. Netflix should be an available download, for free! You still will require a Netflix account in order to use this, but assuming you already have that you should be good to go.
The 3DS basically, can already connect to the internet as long as you have connection to WiFi. But if you want to browse using your 3DS, Do these: System Settings > Other Settings > Tap on 4 > System Update > Enter your PIN code > Tap on OK when you have internet connection > I Accept > Plug AC adapter (Optional) > Wait.
After waiting, You'll get the Nintendo eShop and the Internet browser.
