Hi Walter, it's Jack at Dyson.

The light on the charger illuminates while the machine is taking in power. When the battery is completely recharged, the light will go out. A brand new machine will have some power on its battery to begin with, so the initial charge may take less time than usual. Normally DC34 will take 3.5 hours to recharge completely from empty.

I hope this helps, and reassuringly it sounds like your new machine is working correctly. If you'd like any additional advice or guidance, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Once the green light goes off, it's done charging. Since it was first charge I know they say to charge it 8? hours (or 4? don't recall right offhand) but it does come charged (that's part of how they make the batteries). What you do want to do is remember not to always recharge it when your done using it. Use it till the battery goes flat, then recharge it; it will give you a longer battery life that way.

I have a Dyson DC35. It has just stopped working. The green light on the charger is on and the vacuum is plugged into the charger, but it is like the vacuum is completely dead.

I had a similar problem. I have it on the wall mount and it turns out the plug that goes into the dyson to charge the battery had become unseated from the mount. I pushed it back in ("click") and that fixed it.

Light goes on my kone but it won't work

Hi there,

Well first of all you may check that the charger (adapter) is working or not, you may use a volt meter to check it out or use another charger to make sure....... further you may follow the step below -
1. Remove the battery pack from Vacuum.
2. Hold down the power button for five seconds.
3. Reinstall the battery to reset the system.
4. Plug the Charger directly into vacuum.
5. Charge the battery untill the power light is solid green again and keep the vacuum on the charger for an additional 72 hours (3 days). Important: Do NOT interrupt this charging cycle.
If further you have the same problem it means it's time to change the old battery with new one.
Good Luck!!

Seems to charge but then wont come on

Sounds like you bought a defective battery
You can test for this by removing the battery and holding the power button for 15 seconds. This will restart the charging cycle as if the battery were new. If it still goes red get a refund and a new one.

My roomba mounts up to the charger the light blinks red then after a time it goes green but when I dismount it and push the green button it immediately goes red. It doesn't beep or do anything. It is that...

You have dead nimh (nickle metal hydride) batteries. You will need a replacement. You can test for this by removing the battery and holding the power button for 15 seconds. This will restart the charging cycle as if the battery were new.

Hi, this is our third Dyson DC-16.. the Trigger was shorting out on the first two.. Now we have the third one for about a year.. on charge when not using it.. don't use it every day, but for quick pickups...

How are you charging your battery? Every battery has a memory. If you dont let it die the first come times then charge to full the battery will assume 40% is 100%.

My Roomba will not charge, the light on the charger is on and when you plug in the roomba the light goes out and nothing happens. Can anyone help. It is a Discovery Model 4210

Are you using the home base or are you plugging the charger directly into the Roomba? If you are using the base, give plugging directly into the unit a try.

You might also try resetting the battery. With the battery out of the unit, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds or so. After this is done, plug the charger directly into the unit, and let it charge for 3 days (no kidding, 3 days). After that, if you still have issues, it might be time for a new battery, or time to send the little guy in for repair.

New battery. Charged for 24 hours. Light is green, but after 20 seconds light turns red and it stops.

There's a chance that the battery you bought is bad. There's a greater chance that the problem is with the charger. If you're using the dock to charge, try plugging the charger directly into the roomba just to rule that out. If that doesn't fix the problem, I would try borrowing or buying a new charger, and see if that works. If a new charger and new battery don't solve the problem, the problem must be with your roomba itself.

Roomba 4108 does not charge

Try resetting your Roomba by removing the battery, unplug the charging connector, hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. This will reset the charging system, replace your battery, connect your charger and see what happens. By the way do you also have a homebase ? If so try that too
