There should be a panel on the back where the power cord is that you can easily take off to get to the paper.http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/office_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mx452?CMD=MIXED_SEARCH&mName=PIXMA+MX452&mType=PIXMA+MX&pageKeyCode=ekbresults&searchString=paper+jam&BASIC_SEARCH_CURRENT_TOPIC_ID=3715&BASIC_SEARCH_CURRENT_TOPIC_TYPE=0&RESULTS=RELEVANCE&RELEVANCE_START=1&RELEVANCE_COUNT=25&CONFIGURATION=1011&PARTITION_ID=1&TIMEZONE_OFFSET=null&USERTYPE=1&isSecure=false

I keep getting an error message that says the paper is jammed in the paper output slot (yes, I've removed all of the paper). How do I fix this?

There will be something in there, whether it is toner/ink over a sensor, a paperclip/staple, or a tiny scrap of paper.
The trick with this one is patience, methodically strip it down as far as you can, checking as you go for stuck material, and once you have gone as far as you can put it back together nice and slowly, looking for broken connections and loose bits, then try it again.
If there is nothing in there then the printer has something broken and needs looking at by a technician, in this case you should turn to your warrenty.

"Paper Jam" message displays despite there being no paper jammed. I have cleaned all the rollers and inspected as much as I can easily get to. Is there an easy fix or should I shop for replacements?

1. 1 Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge to fade away before putting your hands or metal tools inside the chassis.

2. Step 2 Pin down the exact location of the jam. The three hot spots for a jam are the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and the print carriage, or between the print carriage and the output tray.

3. Step 3 Take off the front paper tray if the sheet got stuck while it was still in the front area of the printer. If the sheet jammed here, you should be able to see most of the paper.

4. Step 4 Pull on the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a chunk of it deeper in the machine.

5. Step 5 Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed tray area and the print carriage of the all-in-one printer. Carefully remove the jammed paper from the machine.

6. Step 6 Use the carriage access door to reach a jam further inside the all-in-one printer. You may need to move the print carriage out of your way to clear the jam.

7. Step 7 Return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

I cant fix the paper jam problem. every time i take the paper jam out it jams again

I have had paper jams in five different places on this machine. It has jammed at the pickup point from the tray, in which case you have to remove the paper tray and pull the jammed paper out. It has jammed at the manual paper feed tray, in which case you just have to pull the jammed paper out of the feed rollers. It has jammed at the toner/drum, in which case you have to open the front cover and pull the toner cartridge out to remove the jam. It has jammed in the back of the machine where the paper feeds through to the output tray, in which case you have to open the small back panel and remove the paper. And it has jammed in the output rollers, in which case you have to reach inside the output tray and remove the paper. Then once the jam is cleared there are times when the machine has to be unplugged for up to 8 hours to reset before it will function properly.

13 Printer Jam Problem

If it is jamming under the toner (meaning the paper is not quite reaching the toner cartridge, and "crinkling" up), then you would be correct. There may be a tiny pipce or chunk of paper creating a "well" and stopping the paper. If you remove the paper tray and the cartridge, and flip the machine on it's back (fuser side), you may be able to see the chunk in the paper path. You could also get a sturdy pice of laminated paper or card stock, at least an inch or two wide, and run it backwards thru the path to try to back out the chunk.

If the paper is just stopping, in any other spot than the paper tray, it could be a dirty or dead sensor. Try removing the cartridge and spraying canned air throughout the machine.

Paper Jamming

The problem with your printer is likely to be dust getting the way of your sensors; preventing it from seeing paper, preventing the rollers from effectively feeding the paper. This is if you are sure all other things are in proper working condition. Just get a long reach brush and try to reach in as far as possible and brush as best as you could, front and back is there is access.

My printer says I have jammed paper, but i cannot see the paper. How do I fix this?

without knowing the make and model of the printer, it is hard to answer this question.

a paper jam is detected by a printer in one of two ways. Either paper has not reached a sensor in the time it should have, or a sensor is blocked when it should not yet be.

Several things can cause this, one of which would be obvious, in that paper is actually jammed and blocking a sensor that should be open.

Another cause is that paper has not reached a sensor in time. This can be caused when a pickup roller is worn, and not actually pulling paper from the tray, so it sounds like it is working, but there is no paper to print on.

and finally another cause is a broken or malfuntioning sensor. In this case, you will not find any paper blocking a sensor, and is usually an instant failure when the unit is turned on it will automatically error out with a paper jam error. In my experiance, this is usually a broken paper exit flag on the fuser, caused by a paper jam being removed by pulling the paper out of the fuser backwards and breaking the flag.
