My KTM3900WB fridge/freezer is not freezing and cooling in the fridge. The light goes and can hear the motor is running.

Serial no. 84252077 str/job no 07/03. Adjust temperature to colder for both fridge and freezer and left glass of water for 2 hrs. Adjusted temperature gauge again to middle of colder/less cold, left glass of water for another hour. Still no sign of both fridge and freezer cooling or freezing. Can hear the motor running, and light in fridge works.

You are either low on freon refrigerant, or your compressor is frozen (usually due to low freon) or your compressor is bad. the motor will cycle on and off even though the compressor is not working. the refrigerator away from the wall and look compressor will be a nerf football sizedand usually black cylinder. It could be very hot or cold/frozen. can also unplug the refrigerator leave it for a few hours and plug it back in if it work you are low on freon. You need a repairman

Hi my mom has a old KIC fridge freezer combo, model number 0100-bf-530. It's got power because the internal light comes on but not cooling or freezing. What could be the problem. Please help?

Is the compressor running? It needs to be. You should be able to hear it running and it is normally hot to the touch.

Are the condenser fins free of dust and fluff. The best way to clean is with a vacuum cleaner. Airflow is important.

Does the thermostat click when you turn it backwards and forwards.

It may need a top up of refrigerant gas.

Or it may just have reached the end of its life and need replacing. If the compressor has failed, that will certainly be the case.

My Kenmore fridge is not cooling anymore and the freezer is not freezing also properly...everything else seems okay like the lights and I can hear the motor

your fans are running, but the compressor isn't,you need to replace the ptc overload relay on the compressor as this supplies start and run current for the compressor,it unplugs off the compressor body on the unit

Hotpoint RFA52 fridge freezer

if you cant hear the motor/compressor running when energised then its likely to be a thermostat fault... but on energising the system if you hear a buzz then a click then its more seriously the main motor... turn off at mains for 5 mins then turn on... this should tell you either way

RED TEMP WARNING LIGHT ON MOTOR RUNNING

I'm sorry to have to tell you that this sounds like a very expensive fault to fix!
Either your fridge/freezer has degassed (lost the refridgerant gas) through a small leak in the pipe system behind or inside the freezer compartment, OR the compressor (what you called the motor) has started to fail.
Either way, these are very expensive repair jobs. It's possible to replace the compressor within about an hour, but if your model is out of guarantee, there will be around a £50/60 Call-out charge and the compressor will cost between £75 and £150 depending on the model.
Alternatively, if the fridge/freezer has lost gas, the engineer would have to try to find the leak - this could be IMPOSSIBLE if the leak is within the pipework inside the back of the fridge or above/below the freezer compartment.
I'm sorry to say that it's looking like you may have to part with a lot of money - or say goodbye to the fridge/freezer you have!

Freezer is cooling, but refrigator is not cooling

take a look at your evaporator fan motor in the freezer to make sure it is running and not built up with ice around it. this fan motor pushes the cold air from the freezer into the fridge to cool the fridge. you say the freezer is "cooling" , is it freezing??

Fan runs freezer and fridge don't cool

Please check the model number again, I can't locate that number. The number should be like for example 194.258978 Look at following areas for the model number
  • Beneath Or Inside Food Compartment On Cabinet Frame
  • On Plate Lower Front Or Rear Of Cabinet
  • Beside Compressor Door On Right End
  • Near Rear Of Cabinet
  • Inside Liner At Top
  • I think your refrigerator has a defrost timer and this may be the problem, Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Motor runs, freezer defrosting and fridge won't cool

If you have frozen coil at the back of the freezer section, then the defrost thermostat is usually failing. Allow the fridge to defrost completely overnight. If the fridge restarts cooling immediately after defrost, then the problem was the defrost system. In that case the fridge will stop cooling again in a couple of days, as soon as the evaporator coils restart freezing and the condenser goes under stress with the whole cooling system loosing efficiency.

Fridge freezer not working but lights on

Our new 10 day old top frig/bottom freezer stopped freezing, then the top refrigerator stopped cooling, but the light was working and you could hear some motor running and an occasional "clicking" sound. One internet blogger adsvised unpluging the appliance for 1/2 hour. Another advised 2 hours. Then plug in the appliance and see if it started cooling/freezing again. Our experience = nothing. We called the repair folk and the new frig/freezer had a failed compressor and a broken timer!! We were not thrilled. Suprisingly the store we bought the ap[pliance from gave us a $50 gift card to compensate for the lost food. They didn't have to do that - so ask for it; can't hurt.
