Find a printer that allows me to run Windows XP safely? I have an old computer that is running XP home. I have been advised that all newer printers will not work safely with XP. Where can I buy one

The USB connection on back of printer is broken. I need a printer that will work with Windows XP.

Good morning, I have a windows 98 os, mouse (m-rn67) stopped working. no luck using newer mice, doesn't recognize. can i update computer using usb w/driver for newer mouse?

Hi janettgordon,
I am not exactly sure what you mean by "can i update computer using usb w/driver for newer mouse", but if you want to know if you can update the USB component of Windows 98 I regret to say to you that it's not possible.
USB support on Windows 98 always been tricky and Microsoft never officially supported it before Windows 98 SE. I don't know what version you have, but either way USB support under Windows 98 never been great. You also need to keep in mind that Windows 98 is quite an old system and no recent hardware like mouse, keyboard, printers is supported on it anymore.
My advise would be to upgrade your current Windows installation to Windows XP or Windows 2000. A friend can probably lend you a copy and I'm 100% positive that it will solve your problem with newer mices. You will need to make sure your computer can handle Windows XP or 2000, but they can run under pretty old hardware so it should not be a problem.
Cheers!

What is the procedure to install a 32-bit softwares in to my laptop(windows 7,home premium,64-bit) ?

Most programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows will work on the 64-bit version of Windows. Notable exceptions are many antivirus programs.
Device drivers designed for 32-bit versions of Windows won't work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows. If you're trying to install a printer or other device that only has 32-bit drivers available, it won't work correctly on a 64-bit version of Windows.

Windows 7 64bit does run programs that will run on windows 7 32bit, see here

How Windows 7 / Vista 64 Support 32 bit Applications

BUT not ALL 32bit programs will run on Windows 7!!! There are many programs that will run on Windows XP and before that will not run on Windows 7. IF you had Windows 7 Pro version (or upgrade) there is a program you can download from Microsoft that will simulate an XP environment to allow programs to run called "XP MODE".
Try to install the 32bit software first. If installation not succeed, it would be better if you first look into a newer version of the program you want to run.You have to consider that a newer version of your program might not be that much more expensive than upgrading to pro, and with the newer version, usually comes newer features.

Hope this help and if helpful RATE please.

My printer Canon LBP 2900 won't work on my new computer windows 7

There are none and I am sorry but there probably never will be, See this is the major problem with Win 7 anything over a year old generally just isn't supported.
Here is how to Install them so they work. Download your XP driver you wish to install. If it's in a zip/rar file then extract it to your desktop. You should have a simple .exe file sitting on your desktop to install the drivers, as normal for XP. Right click the .exe file and select "Properties". Then select the tab called "Compatibility" Now check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" Make sure "Windows XP Service Pack 2" is highlighted. Now apply the settings and run the installer. This should work for most drivers, but not all Install and run as Administrator.

I have one computer which operating system is windows vista home premium. Another PC with operating system Windows 7 Home premium and have set up to share one HP K80 Printer. Now problem I believe is the...

Instal only one printer driver on the PC it is physically connected to. Preferably the Windows 7 PC (Latest OS). Unshare the printer, remove drivers from other PC's., then reboot al PC,s and re-share the printer. The PC's sharing should allow the Windows 7 PC to use it's driver, although they may request a disc for basic information about the printer.

Can't install old printer on newer computer

The appropriate printer drivers are bundled with XP. With the printer connected to the computer and powered on, the system should automatically recognize the printer and install the correct drivers if it is connected via USB. If it is connected to the parallel port, go to Control Panel -> Printers, select Add New Printer and follow the on-screen prompts.

Motorola WPS870G print server

tell all connections and all related equipment (gear) and OS run.
we can not ever guess others networks. wired or wifi.
not.

MOTOROLA WPS870G Wireless Print Server 802.11b / g, RJ45 LPT, USB 2.0 a true Blast form the PAST 2005 for worse, older printers.
LEGACY relics, I can do.
the manual is here. free 115 pages,
the topic first is , what printers work here, not told yours.
the box new has CD with XP driver, and are useless now.
so what then>? you never said XP or up to W11 use.
it really is a print server, that is for sure and wireless so you can print from any wireless PC to the unstated parallel LPT printer of old

runs wired printers this way, but I bet newer printers USB fail here.
easy as pie (eating cherry pie slang)
NO PRINTER TOLD BUT I GUESS USB PRINTER AS LPT ARE ALL DEAD NOW, RIP ,LPT 25PIN PRINTERS.
the manual covers both things wifi setup and USB printer and test print pages.
my guess is your setting up the PS , wifi pages and it fails?
read page 15 and for sure direct printer app that is useless today xp apps are that.
the wifi on the SP must be set as a fixed IP in your home router, using mac address of the SP. MAC = IP , RESERVED. FIXED
OR TROUBLE MAX.
THE IP MUST NOT CHANGE, PER PAGE 15 TOLD

"the printer must be on the the allow list

?My printer doesn't show up in the list of available printers during installation.
If you are using an USB-enabled print driver to connect your printer to the Wireless Print
Server, you might need to download and use an Ethernet-enabled print driver. You will also
need to use IP Printing (LPR) if you use an Ethernet print driver. See

Windows vista

Windows Vista is the new operative system distributed from Microsoft, following the previous release of Windows XP.

An operative system is the interface between the user (you ) and the computer, that allows you to manage computer hardware resources and peripheral, and manage processes (software) running on your computer.

From the user point of view The operative syste is the environment where you run applications, manage connected devices, storing files and starting and stopping programs.

Vista is the latest OS released from Microsoft. It has a powerful interface, but it can be slow running on old computers. On vista you can also have some compatibility problem when you try to install old devices built for XP, such as printers, scanners etc.
