    Sorry, don't see many requests for service manuals. Short of contacting Mackie Designs, the only thing I could find was a link to some schematics.

    Hi Bill, your schematic link was very nice, Thanks, But it was Part 1 of a 2 Part schematic. The one you sent is for all the input channels and I need the part with the output channels schematic.Do you have it by any chance, please. Thanks Larry

Yes, get some TRS to XLR (Male) cables or adapters and plug them into either the monitor or alt outs, set your routing and levels and away you go.

Are you sure the xlry cable is balanced? there are balanced and unbalanced xlrs. For phantom to work, you need a balanced xlr cable.

Mackie mixer will not work with windows 8
well depending upon the mixer and windows version you may have issues. Windows 8 is a 64bit platform, your mixer may only have 32bit drivers (x86). Try visiting the mackie forum for your mixer.

I would try re-installing the drivers:

http://www.mackie.com/products/onyxiseries/drivers/

And go for a firmware install as opposed to an upgrade, if it failed halfway through the upgrade you will need to load the firmware on from scratch.

Check the settings in your computer in the control panel "sounds and devices" under the "Voice" and "Audio" tabs. Check that all are set to the Mackie instead of the computers default input.

OK... first thing is to DUMP ALL anti-virus and Anti_spyware and real time defragging programs as these resource hogs **** processing away from teh sound generation. Also is you are recording at the same time, if your disk is fragmented requiring a lot of head movement to record the time lags can cause buffer underruns and break up of audio... and eventually having the audio program "crashing" due to lack of throughput.
When doing audio work suspend all the resource hogs like the above mentioned programs. It is a good idea when recording CD's as well.

What is the setup you are using. What mics (make and model). What are the settings for the channels? With this info, I should be able to assist.
