Bobbin winder is slipping

Checked spring tension, fine, changed o ring, oiled spindle. None of these fixed the winder. It still slips

The bobbin winder spindle probably needs to be checked to see if there is a part broken or if it needs some type of adjustment

Viking Rose, My bobbin winder turns but stops with any tension on the thread, machinery inside is still going, sounds like something is slipping inside? What to do now?

There is a small rubber that rubs against the hand wheel inside the machine. It is called a tire. Yours is in need of replacement. There is also a spring that keeps tension on the bobbin winder but it probably isn't the problem.

I have followed all instruction to take apart machine but dont know which screw releases bobbin winder so that I can replace O rig

Most O-Ring on Bobbin Winders can be changed without dismantling them. If you can get your fingers on the O-Ring, just
(1) Pry off the old O-Ring, usually does not even need a tool. (2) Clean the O-Ring Pulley, (3) Oil the Bushing (4) Wipe of any excess oil off the Bobbin Winder, you do not want oil on the rubber O-Ring, oil will make it slip, get soft and spongy and disintegrate faster). (5) Pop-On the new O-Ring. All this is very easy if the Bobbin-Winder is External, but if it is under the lid (internal), it works about the same, I seldom have to take the Winder out to replace the O-Ring.
Alternative: (a) Pack Kleenex around the O-Ring, to keep and dust from getting into your machine, then (b) Gently scrape or sand the O-Ring a bit, to get any glaze off the surface; even a 3-M Green Scratchy Scrub pot-cleaner will do fine. (c) Clean with Alcohol and dry leaving no dust or paper parts (no finger prints either, fingers leave grease residue). [ if you can find "Rubber Rejuvenater" a pro product, it would be great, now that is not "Belt Dressing", which is a little too much for a O-Ring, since it may gum things up a bit too much (but it may work in some cases)] (d) Put it back like it was supposed to be. (e) Adjust the "Bobbin-Full" indicator so it kicks the Bobbin out of gear (stops winding the Bobbin) when it is just about full. This done, congratulations, you are in business again.
Sincerely,

How to fix viking designer 1 broken bobbin winder

If you mean the bobbin winder mechanism where the bobbin slips on to the spindle is loose, the pin that holds it in place has come out. It's an easy fix but requires that all the covers be removed. Suggest taking it to an authorized Viking dealer for repair. You can find your local dealer by going to the Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us and click on Locate a Dealer.

Three possible causes: 1.Bobbin not push fully down the bobbin winder spindle
2.Need to push bobbin winder spindle to the left before you can wind the bobbin
3.The bobbin winder spindle rubber ring has worn out. This will need a local technician to fix it.

What's your problem?

if the bobbin thread is winding around the bobbin winder spindle then
the bobbin is not sitting correctly on the bobbin winder spindle,,
the bobbin (metal or plastic) should lock in on the bobbin winder spindle
& the the thread should be around the bobbin tension guide

Singer 648 has recently been cleaned, serviced. Has previously been winding bobbin fine, now it will not wind.

Ensure that the bobbin winder tyre is in place and not contaminated with oil, causing it to slip. Look to see that the mechanism also moves across far enough to let the two wheels contact to drive the winder.

My bobbin winder stopped working on my Brother CS-8150. spindle locks in, motor runs, but it seems that the winder is slipping. Can this be adjusted?

I think that I would call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 and ask them if this is a warranty issue. They may have a quick fix for you.

I have a singer 503A. The bobbin winder will not

When you have the winder rubber on try and turn the winder by hand, if it does not move the chances are the winder has seized, if the winder wheel is moving but not the spindle then the grip (thread) has worn, if you cannot move the whole winder by hand and it has seized you need to get some WD40 and spray a few drops down the spindle, take an electric drill and put it over the top of the spindle and switch it on slowly and it will probably free it off, be aware of oil splashing out.
you mighjt get a digram from www.tandtrepair.com

Problems winding bobbins on my singer 4622 sewing machine

I have two possible solutions:
1. you have the wrong bobbin and it doesn't grip the winder.
2. the small spring on the winder spindle is missing or bent, it is what applies pressure to the bobbin for winding.

good luck!
