My amp has two resistors side by side one is blown can you tell me specs for a replacement

all older cars do this, the heater speed dropping reistor is blown
a cheap part.
it can only be 3 things, and a $10 voltmeter tells you which it is in 5min work

1. bad switch 0v out
2. bad resistor 12v in, 0v out.
3. or bad wiring. (0v out)

but on all cars.
bad power to HVAC
bad controls (includes resistor block or new car modulators)
bad blower motor. (fails on high)
or bad damper if only some modes fail to blow.
and wires, it not necessary to say that "wires" ,its global to all electrics and electronics, it's a GIVEN.

please check for any blown fuses, if there is replace with the same value, do not replace it with a higher value. also check resistors near the rectifier diodes, check full wave diodes & ic regulators, if you find an error replace with the same value or specs.

If you look closely at the color bands on the resistor. That will tell you what resistor you need to replace. All resistors are standardized color coded. You can find out the resistance online. Hope this helps.

No, that is NOT what the problem is.

The fuse protects the power supply. The power amps have failed. The usual cause is an arc between layers of the multi-layer circuit board. The labor to repair the power amp module is extensive. I have repaired several.

You can find new amp modules and I would purchase a new one and drop into your unit. The amp module is an HCA2400.

There is probably $15 of parts blown in each side of the power amp and it takes about 6 hours to repair. One has to grind out the burned area (internal layers not necessarily visible on surface) and re-insulate and then install jumper wires to replace those taken out.

Each side of the amp will likely take out 3 switching MOSFET transistors and often a Zener diode. Sometimes a low resistance metering resistor will be fried with smoky residue underneath the board. When this happens two small surface mounted resistors will be blown open. Great care has to be taken when insulating the board damage and replacement of the blown circuit traces.

You can find HCA2400 power amp module replacements for about $175 online.

Use of the unit as an unpowered mixer is a bit dangerous as if arc re-establishes it can fry the power supply taking out two very expensive IGBT's and many other components. If the mixer still works, then your whole power supply is still OK.

U still can make out the resistor colors codes?Tries websites like Ebay.com,Amazon.com or might just go down to Radio Shack,have that toterance of that resistor to buy.

Be sure you replaced the capacitor in the proper (+) (-) orientation. There is a half moon shape line on the board on one side of the capacitor legs, that is the negative terminal. If incorrectly installed it will not work.

^ from Digikey.com are a good replacement. You need to replace all of the Z48s on the side of the amp where the ones that failed were located. Digikey will also have the resistors. There may be other problems. If you're new to repair work, read through the following page.

its better to change them all. than to change 1 or 2 mosfets, bcuz simetimes it affects the other mosfets. and please check your speaker or maybe there is an resistor, capacitors, or a relay malfunctioning in that area.

They are most likely a MOSFET type of transistor. If they are in the power supply part of the amp then you will probably need to replace all the MOSFET's in the power supply along with perhaps some gate control resistors for them. They each have their own resistors. It wouldn't hurt to see if the 494 IC in the power supply is working properly too. This IC is what sends the pulse width modulated square wave to the MOSFET's. Next you will want to test all the MOSFET's that are used as the audio output drivers and their predrivers and bias resistors. Don't forget to check the DC bias and offset on the outputs too, to make sure everything is OK there. In short, you will most likely need to go to a repair shop that can do all this and who would know what the heck I'm talking about. Good luck.
