I finally figured this out after searching everywhere online and seeing people in similar situations but no solutions. I was getting 2 audible relay clicks but no power to the surround sound unit. After some experimenting this is what worked for me:

Remove all wires to the unit including the ac power cord, plug in all the cables you need THEN the power cable after. In my case I had a Panasonic sa-pt770, I plugged in the speakers to the respective colors, then my HDMI, then the power cable.

Panasonic SA PT70 won't power on? Any ideas? The power cable has been checked and isn't fault. The power button clicks as it should when you turn it on but nothing happens.

Short circuited component/s at its audio output stage circuit. Check and replace it. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

The receiver will not turn on and there is an audible relay clicking on and off.

You have a problem with the power supply or audio amp section. Most likely shorted audio output transistors.

DVD changer is jammed on my Panasonic Sa-pt770 Receiver

if you have 2 tiny screw drivers, if not, the tips of a butter knife might be skinny enough, you can try to insert them a wee bit into both sides of the tray and pry outward, carefully of course, and unjam the tray

The other day I came home from work and my Panasonic SC-PT770 would not turn on. I made sure everything was plugged in, all wires were connected, and flipped the circuit breaker. The manual said to plug it...

Did you check the outlet that it's plugged into? Sometimes we see defective outlets in surge protectors. Check the end that plugs into the receiver also, unplug it, then reconnect it.

Sounds like you have a loose cable. Check that the connection is really in well. If the problem continues I would get a new set of cables, especially if you are using the ones that came with the receiver or dvd player.
