Il est rond et jaune. je place un exemple du condensateur

Is that a picture of the actual capacitor, or just a yellow ceramic disc capacitor ?

the condenser is of this form. it is an example only

Add a Commentthere must be a code of 2 or 3 figure written on the round and yellow ceramic condenser. It is almost to support on 2 large condenser in the shape of bottle That takes to me is coded to repair it.

it is not the good condenser which gave. I speak about the ceramic condenser round and yellow and not in the shape of bottle… I am sorry I use an English French translator.

I need the 3 digits on the condenser.

I put a photograph of site of the roasted condenser.

  • etrc_new Dec 24, 2014

Serge, I see that in your picture the two blue electrolytic cylindrical capcitors (condenors appear damaged as well, one cerainly is. In this picture have you removed the yellow ceramic capcitor already ? or it so roasted that I cannot see it ? In either case I cannt determine its value. As you thought you may need to refer to proper circuit diagram to determine its value. I suspect that the information you need can be obtained in one two ways (i) contact Alesis and hve them tell you (ii) an owner of a working SR-16 (who you might be able to comtact by browsing the various forums) could look at their circuit board at read the number of the capacitor from there. That is all I am able to suggest, unless you can determine the nature of that part of the circuit and thereby work out what value capacitor would be good (from its position, it looks like it might be power supply filtering capacitor). And you sould remember what another Fixya 'expert' says, that (often) capacitors do't just roast there is sometimes a reason for this, and replacing the capacitors may not slve the problem. But sometimes cmponents do spontaneously fail. I hope this comment translates well, I apologise that my French is not good enough to write in that language. Unfortunately, I am unable to give you any more advice. Joyeux Noel ! 24.December.2014

I thank to you you are very nice, the round condenser is not there (to crumble). At Alesis do not answer me. I go continued to seek. The cause of the problem. it was not the good block of courrant VCC instead of VAC. If you know a person who would like to take a picture that would help much. Still thank you!!! :))

You might try going to this webpage
https://www.alesis.com/sr16
and from the docs&downloads section download and search the Reference manual. It's also here http://www.burnkit2600.com/manuals/ALESIS_SR-16_OM.pdf (this looks more like a user guide though)
Failing that, choose 'support' from the th top of the page and either contact Alesis support or else ask your question in the 'community' (which you will have to join). Another community which deems to have an interest in the SR-16 is www.circuitbenders.co.uk but I think it unlikely that they could direct you to a circuit diagram, though it is slight possibility that someone might know the value of the capacitor C5

How to program drum beats from one alesis sr16to another alesis sr16 drum machines

5.4J Copy a Song to Another SR-16 Via MIDI
The SR-16 can send Song system exclusive information to another SR-16 via MIDI. If you have only one SR-16, you can skip this section.
1. The source SR-16 should be in Song mode and stopped. Connect the source SR-16 MIDI out to the destination SR-16 MIDI in.
2. Select the Song to be copied.
3. Press and hold the COPY button, and keep holding it down until step (5). The display says COPY TO SONG.
4. Do not enter any destination Song number-just press PLAY to send the data out over MIDI. It will end up in whatever Song number had been selected at the receiver. If the Song was not empty, the new Song steps will be appended to the existing Song steps.
5. Release the COPY and PLAY buttons.
Caution: This does not transfer Pattern information, only the song steps. To transfer Patterns to another SR-16, see section 3.3D and 3.3E.

Hopefully this helps, it comes out of the SR16 Manual, page 40 I think
Cheers Pete

Service manual

Open the box and try to spray a cleaning/lubricating solution inside the volume pot mechanism like Deoxit D5, you can also spray a little of it on the output connectors where you plugin your cable that runs to the amp. If that doesn't solve your problem you have to replace the volume potentiometer. The machine I have had similar issues and I was lucky to have a pot close in size and resistance value as the original which in my case was broken, so I just replaced it. Good luck!

I am not getting any sound with my used Alesis SR-16. I am getting display but just no sound. Help!

Many people have had this problem WHEN they substitued a replacement power adapter.

The CORRECT adapter MUST supply 9 volts AC, NOT DC at 830 ma or more.

The AC is converted inside the SR-16 to both + and - power to run the internal circuits. IF you have connected a 9 v DC adapter, it will NOT have damaged anything, just get the CORRECT adapter and all will be well.

In play mode the sr 16 goes beserk. It makes a pulsed buzzing sound and plays back the drums distorted. any ideas?

The SR-16 uses an external transformer as the power supply which provides 9 volts AC. This ac power is converted to DC positive and negative voltages for the digital and analog portions of the circuit. Although the unit has been reliable generally, this symptoms sounds like of of the main filter capacitors in the DC converter circuit(rectifier, filters and voltage regulator) has broken loose or is defective. This will affect both channel equally. If the problem is in one channel, a broken shield on a cable or the output jack ground connection might have broken on that one channel.

Just got a SR-16 plugged it in an got boxes in the upper left corner of display. nothing else works. no sound nothing. please help

Make sure you have the correct power adapter for the unit. This unit takes a 9 VAC, 830ma adapter. It will NOT work with a replacement, universal or DC type adapter.

Sr-16 drum machine need part

The pot is PROBABLY an audio taper so check the suffix on the old one.

Many pots you can find at Digikey.com or Mouser.com.

You MAY have to cut the shaft length

For an exact replacement you will probably have to go to Alesis.

4.7 K is NOT a standard value for pots. 5K ohms is.

SR-16 gives message "ERROR: 01" when powering up

You likely have lost the internal memory data. This can be due to a power surge or that the internal battery has been depleted. The battery may need to be replaced.

You should reset the unit and reload the data, The manual is available online. Search Google for it.

The manual STRESSES the importance of backing up the data.

If you don'thave the backup, you MAY need to find another SR-16 owner to clone the data from.
