You may have to go into the setup (BIOS) and check to see that the CD-ROM is enabled as a boot device. Some BIOS allow you to disable the CD-ROM as a boot device. It would not be listed in the boot manager if that were the case.

Your BIOS is probably not set to boot from a CD-ROM. Luckily I have the same laptop so if you press and hold the "c" key when it boots up and keep holding it until it beeps at you it will then boot from a cd. You could also press esc and go into the BIOS if you're adventurous.

Check with someone you know to see if they have a USB external CD or DVD drive that you can borrow. Then set it to boot from USB. There is also a possiblity that you have a corrupt CMOS fireware. See if you can download an BIOS firmware update and place it on a external floppy and install. Good Luck

It sounds to me that unfortunately you have an error on your recorded CD and there will be nothing you can do to repair that.
The installation of Norton should not cause the problem itself an error on the hard drive will usually cause that problem.

Samsung np530u4c error boot

Tap F2 while powering up, enter BIOS and check boot settings order. Maybe it's become set to boot from CDROM first. HDDs should be set to AHCI formats. Try booting from CDROM anyway if you have an operating system on disk.

My acer laptop cdrom does not boot start at all

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the CDROM driver via the device manager.

Right Click on Computer. Click on Manage. Go to Device Manager.

Right Click on the CDRom driver. Uninstall. Restart the computer so that windows will generate the driver. Update it. You can either go to the website of the computer's manufacturer to get the updated version of the driver or do it automatically by using RadarSync.

I hope this helps!

Insert XP CD into drive, reboot pc pressing ESC button, or delete in some machines. This takes you into BIOS, change your primary boot device to CDrom, save changes and reboot. Select boot from CD once this appears and wait for files to be installed. Select the part of the hard drive you wish to use for your operating system (usually the largest) and select partition this drive. Delete any previous os, and reformat hard drive. (Be aware this removes everything saved on your hard drive, so always back up first) Re boot afterwards and reinstall operating system.
