Hi,
Based on the user manual for your TV, I don't believe you can play media from a USB device on your 39in model.
The USB port on the TV is used for the 'Time Shift' feature on your TV (which allows you to pause, play and rewind broadcast TV).
I do not believe your TV can play digital media without a device providing video output.
Hope that helps. http://www.sansuiproducts.com/images/manuals/SLED3900.pdf

The usb option is not coming up anywhere in the menu. I was gonna test to see if a movie will play from the usb drive.

In most cases You have to plugin USB device into TV before it will show up in menu, try a different device if it shows up then the first is the problem! not all USB devices will work on some TVs!

I cant play movies using my USB drive on my Samsung LCD tv model LA40D503F7R. Movies option on screen is not displaying, only music and pictures option is displaying

Nope, you certainly can't. The TV can only show still photos or play music. It's not capable of playing videos.

The manual is here:
http://www.samsung.com/ae/support/model/LA40D503F7RXZN
or
2011 LA40D503F7R 40 Inch Full HD LCD TV LA40D503F7RXZN Support SAMSUNG Gulf
See pages 16 and 17.

Burn your movies to DVD or Blu-Ray and you can plug a player into the TV, also described in the manual.

My hard drive don't work in the USB port on my toshiba 26el800a tv

this toshiba tv only supports harddrives that are formatted in FAT32 format.
you will need to reformat your hard drive to FAT32 in order to display pictures and play audio.
there is no other support for movies etc according to toshiba's websitehttp://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/televisions/led-backlit-tv/el800a/26el800a/specifications#details

I have new lcd sansui fontes and i m unable to play movies thru USB. as its written in website that lcd has a divx player and the movie format is divx frendly so please help how to play that movie

Some of movies encoded in Xivd (not divX, thought thye are compatible) are not supported my some manufacturers.

One of the following should help
- Re-encode the movies in DIVX format and play them
- Upgrade your TVs firmware to support the latest video formats

I have a 32 inch LED TV and i am wondering if i can use an external hard drive to watch movies through the USB port on the back.

Movies stored on a hard drive are not in a format that can be readily used by a TV. You need something to read the movie file, usually a laptop computer or a DVR of some type. Good luck.
