Altec Lansing inMotion MIX iMT800 Portable Digital Boom Box Speaker System for iPhone and iPod Logo

Is there an adapter/cord (30 Pin to Lightning, or 30 Pin to Bluetooth) actually KNOWN to work with the Altec Lansing iMT800, so we can all charge and control the newer Lightning connector style iPhone

Is there an adapter or cord (30 Pin to Lightning, or 30 Pin to Bluetooth) actually KNOWN to work (not speculation or untested guesses) so we can all charge and control the newer Lightning connector style iPhone 5/6 etc phones with this stereo/boombox. Yes, we all know we can use the AUX IN headphone style jacks, please don't suggest that again, sorry it's a very obvious standard part of the unit, but it won't keep the phone charged or allow you to control (play, pause, skip, etc) the phone via the remote accross the room/party etc. We also realise that most adapters won't let you sit the newer iPhone 5/6 etc in the same cradle in the dock, it would probably have to sit on top, we just want to be able to use (Listen, Charge, Control) the newer Lightning connector iPhones as we did with our 30 Pin connector iPhone 4s. I love the big full sound of this unit, especially for its size, and want to once again make full use of this wonderful, but too expensive to throw out, stereo/boombox!

I think your only option is to get one sold in Apple stores. I have a small 30-pin-to-Lightning adapter (not a cable) and it does not work with either my iPad mini or my wife's iPhone 5. I also have a non-Apple Lightning charging cable (as a backup, just in case...). Same deal.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the input. Do you know this works? Or is it just a guess? The reason for asking the question in the first place is to find out wether something will work or not before going and spending money on it. Were both your adapters non-Apple? The first one is not clear. Thanks."

Hi Kenny. Yes, the adapter and the charging cable are both non-Apple. I bought both at Marshsll's in New Jersey. The adapter is from Sharper Image (the name is imprinted on the adapter); I don't remeber the manufacturer of the cable. The charging cable is actually part of a 3-head charging cable: one Micro USB (mainly for my Samsung Galaxy S3), one 30-pin that I use for my iPod Touch 3rd generation and an older iPod mini 6GB) and the Lightning plug. The only one that does not work is the Lightning one, as I mentioned. I made the suggestion with the Apple stores thinking that you can explain the guys there your situation, even have them show you if it works and ask them if they will allow you to return it if it does not work for you.

My Altec lansing iMT800 no longer turns on with either the AC adapter OR fresh batteries. Any ideas?

Most likely be component failure on the circuit board. If so inclined, open the unit and see if there are burnt/discolored resistors. Hopefully you have a warranty and can have the unit replaced

I bought a Sony MP3 Walkman and Altec Lansing IM510 Speaker System that has a docking station for a 30 pin adapter; is there an adapter made to solve this problem?

Yes!!! Check the voltage size, get a docking station 30 pin adapter, which has the same output and input voltage size. and thats gonna solve it for you ok.

Imt800 power adapter repair

It is not the power adapter that is at fault. It is the soldering on the circuit board underneath the plastic behind the power adapter. I put together an album of pictures detailing what you need to do if you don't want to cut any wires or buy a new coax adapter or disassemble the unit from the front end. There wasn't a detailed guide available anywhere so I hope this helps all of you with your problems.
I went into this blindly and have never soldered anything in my life. Repairing the iMT800 was a success and inspired me to continue on my electronics curiosity. All you will need is a soldering iron, solder, dremel, super glue and some type sealant to patch the hole you're going to need to make.

Here is the guide: http://imgur.com/a/qDaw4

It functions as normal: charging the phone, plays very loud, etc.
For what it's worth: I won't be buying anymore altec lansing products and will share my experience with the customer service department (non-existent) with everyone that notices my new scar on my iMT800.

IMT800 will not work off power cord, plug seems very loose in connection. Is there a way to open the deck and check to see if plug is broken within?

Try it with batteries. Likely that this the problem as it has been with all of the IMT 800/810's. It's due to the circuit board and the shoddy workmanship that Altec Lansing performed when manufacturing these units.
I'm on my second one so feel qualified to make that statement.
