How can I upgrade my cable box to HD without buying an expensive package from my ISP?

I've currently got a "mini box" only to catch the news and weather. I also have an apple tv. Seems this mini box is causing the picture to be poor. I want the higher quality but don't want to pay for the high priced HD box they say I need with a higher amount of channels. I just wondered... any fix?

SOURCE: Sony BRAVIA KDL46S2010 Sound and Pix not in sync - in HDTV channels only

This is a software issue with both the TV manufacture and the cable box provider. This will only be fixed when the cable company and TV manufacture sit down and work out their problem. Some cable company has taken the first step by updating cable boxes with different software.

SOURCE: TV not finding Digital Channels from Cable Box

We have Comcast and we plugged the cable straight into our Bravia, searched for Digital Channels and it found 131. We actually get all the HD channels that we had using the box, plus a few more. It's worth a try.

SOURCE: Bravia & Sky+HD, aspect problem

There is nothing wrong with you Sony Bravia TV and it suppport all HD and SD formats.

Are you viewing the HD version of the channel when it is showing a standard defination show. e.g SKY1 HD instead of SKY1.

This means that regular standard defination shows are in a 4:3 ratio and does not fill the whole screen. In order to view these type of shows you will need to tune to regular channel instead of the HD version.

You can check if a show is brocast in HD by going into the tv guide and checking for the HD symbol in the programme symposis.

Firmware upgrade

The ISP is correct in telling you not owner upgradeable. Only because the upgrade is their property. The firmware is coded for their cable lines to distribute the power levels through the cable. If you're having intermittent disconnects, you should call them and ask for a LEVEL3 tech to come to check the cable connections from the "TAP" (which is where the cable comes to home), it's possibly needed to rewire the cable and splitters in your home

Ok, I have a Zhone 6211-I3-200 Bridge/Router or in other words a Paradyne ADSL CPE, and I cannot for the life of me get it to work with my Xbox 360. I used to have a different router and I would switch...

Zhone Modem Model #. 6211-13-200-0PA ADSL2 BRIDGE/ROUTER, AN.

I would like to upgrade current Firmware, but it is quite difficult and my ISP support even knows how to do this upgrade.

It would seem that the router is not running fast enough. If I try Netflix it shows my movies but does not down load fast enough to run. What is going on here?

If you are currently using wireless to connect to your router, it might be a good investment to get a signal booster because if you are too far away the signal starts to degrade and slow the internet speed down.
If you are using a wired connection for the connection to the router, there are a multitude of things that could be slowing it down, ranging from internet congestion clear up to faulty firmware.
A few things can be done in order to help speed up the router's/Internet performance.
 1. Close any unneeded programs, this could be all because of a simple program trying to fetch an update.
 2. Check if it is just Internet Congestion, this is a simple one, try accessing the internet at different times of the day to see if there is just too many people running their internet at a time.
 3. Call your ISP, The Internet Service Provider (ISP) could be doing maintence on the network and could be slowing it down. They also could be blocking Netflix from streaming also, so make sure you contact them.
 4. Upgrade your router's firmware, a guide to this can be found on the manufacturer's website. Just keep a backup just in case because anything can happen.
 5. Get a newer cable, if your router is running off a CAT5 cable it could be a simple reason to the congestion. It would be a wise investment to upgrade the cable anyways to a CAT6. A way to identify what cables you have is to check the side of the cable, it probably will be printed on it somewhere.
 6. Turn off/Unplug unneeded Internet Using Devices, if you have a device on the network that uses internet it could be a reason for the latency. Some devices go on the internet to check for news, time updates, software updates, etc...
 7. Time to upgrade Internet Package, this one should be kept for last because it will be the most expensive to do.
These are just a few things that could be happening, but if none of these help, you might want to get a qualified technician to come and inspect the issue.

Sony kp 51ws510 upgrade to HD - how to do this

There are inputs on the back of the set. If your tv is Sony 51ws510 then it is capable of HD, but you have to have component or DVI cables to connect the tv to the HD device (HD cable box or DVD player).

On your set the component inputs on the back of the tv are video5 and video6 in the middle located in a vertical line (red, green, blue rca video connections with red and white rca audio connections).

You also have a DVI input toward at the top of the input panel (white connector with red and white rca audio connectors).

If i buy a full hd tv,instead of hd ready, can i view HD PROGAMS from outdoor arial without anymore setup. thank you A R SHEARING.

You do not want to buy HD ready (ready means it will accept HD sources), Ful HD TV will have ATSC digital tuner for off the air signal, you will want it to have QAM tuner also so if you decide to get cable, you can get unencryped HD programs without using the cable box (that is what I am using with my Entended BASIC Comcast cable without using/renting their box, Comcast gives three free boxes, then you have to rent the rest if you have more than 3 TVs at about $7 a month).

Synergy V remote - TV power on to last channel viewed - what's the code??

Actually, there is a setting in the cable box for this. You hit the settings button on the remote TWICE, then scroll down to Viewer:Power On. Click on what channel (or last channel) you want it to go to when you power on. Hope this helps. I have the 8300 HDC DVR.

HD reception

To have HD on cable, you will need an HD cable box with the HD service activated by the cable company. Some cable carriers will provide some basic HD services included in the base cost with the box.

From the HD cable box to the TV, you will need an HDMI cable between the cable box and the TV set. This is an HDTV interconnect wire. You will have to refer to the instructions on the cable box and on the TV to get everything going properly.

Can i upgrade to hd on this tv

I am not finding anything on the net about being able to upgrade it but the HD in the model # stands for high def but the tv is old enough that it may not go up as high as 1080 most likely just 480i or p which can be achieved with an s-video or might be 720 with the R/B/G connector or a DVI connector, you can look for converting cables on ebay
