When the oven gets up to temp the light goes off, then comes on again a few minutes later (I expect this as the temp is still settling) but the temp drops significantly from this point until we adjust the temp to get it to kick in again. This cycle (rise and fall) happens continously. Have changed main oven thermostat and element.
Your Oven is electric and not gas if you have changed element and thermostart then you alo need to check high limit switch wich usually opparates like thermoastart. It only goes off when thermostart fails but if its faulty it could present such as you say.
Seems all there is left to check is the switch

probably the element. to save wasting money, check continuity with a multimeter

Hi ya mate sorry to hear your having problems with you oven,
The problem wiht your oven seems to ba a faliure of the fsd/ffd, it seems to me that this device is not completey gone but is faulty.
This device is used as a safety feature on gas ovens and is there to turn the gas off to the oven when the flame has failed.
The way it works is that the intial small flame heats up the the phile at the end of the cappliary tube which is connected to a valave which realses the gas to the oven..
what you need is to have it change
hope this helps

You will need to replace the temp probe Call704-891-6557 we'll tell you how to do it safely.

Hi,
If your electric oven is not heating then you probably have a bad heating element in your oven. This is not that hard to fix yourself...
Check out this tip that I wrote about the Oven not heating problem..

hi remember that electric can kill you even if it is unplugged, if you don't know what components are likely to hold charge or have large inductance get someone else to fix it.
you need to get the service manual as tis will have fault finding charts, part numbers, location of sensors etc. If you can't get manual then:
Not likely to be temp limiter as this cuts out if temp is too hot. Find temp probe, may be ntc, mercury vapour switch etc. take probe out disconnect leads and measure resistance, heat, or cool, probe measure resistance if not significantly different (ie 10k to 100k or 100k to 300k) then probe is shot. Take probe to spares place, get replacement and refit. Be very careful to refit leads exactly as they came out, don't want insulation to melt and oven to become live. test with oven or meat thermometer as new sensor may need calibration. Should be accurate to within 10C or so
hope this helps
