Clear carriage jam

Ok guys I was struggling with the same issue for HP 3520, so I opened the cartridge access door and press down on a small black piece of plastic (that holds the carriage in place) once you press it there will be a slight click sound and thenn move the carriage to the right hand side.
Now close the lead and click ok the clear message.

You should be ok.

This method worked for my model.
You must have the power turned on otherwise it won't move.

The "paper jam" message stays

Yes you may think you have cleared the paper path but there is still a small piece of paper stuck around the jam sensor arm..
look into the machine and when the carriage moves to the centre for you to change the ink tanks, pull out the power lead. observe where the carriage has stopped and now push the carriage all the way to the left. Where the carriage was is a black panel with a lot of little rollers in it. There is a small slot in the panel and thats probably where the critter is hiding.

good luck with a long L shaped opened up paper clip... get my drift?

Officejet G85

For the paper jam you remove the back cover and clean the 4 rubber rollers with alcohol, you can rotate the rollers forward while you clean. For carriage jam you start by cleaning the encoder strip that runs across behind the carriage unit, the clear strip with black bars on it, you can wipe with a Q-tip damp with alcohol. If no help you may need to take apart and clean dried ink off of the service station on the right.

Carriage jam open door carriage jam and then press OK to continue

You would be absolutely amazed how small a piece of debris can cause that fault. Use a flashlight and look carefully for any piece of debris and remove it.

Get some "canned air" from any computer or office supply store and blow out the interior of the printer thoroughly.

Two choices; 1. Take the machine apart and take the roller out and then bend back the little follower.
2. Break the offending follower off and hope the paper still feeds through OK.

i'd say that when doing surgery at this level, it's always handy to have the guide to surgery for printers.

I'd say that this patient is muerto.

Carriage Jam

I tried all these steps and it still did not work was ready to throw the printer out from frustration. Instead I traced what I did when I had the jam. I believe if the factory can fix it so can I. My printer is now working and it was so simple yet HP does not tell you how to fix it.
