I have a casio wk-1630 keyboard. The light on the plug going into the wall lights up but the power won't turn on with the keyboard itself. I'm not tech savvy so no clue what the problem is

On the power pack there may be a label that says 12v dc or 18v Dc or some other voltage. There may be a input voltage on the keyboard and a current rating eg 12v DC 1A current or it might be AC voltage of 12V or some value.

get a volt meter or a multimeter and measure the voltage on the plug. positive is the inside part and the outside part is negative. dc setting if dc volts expected or AC setting for if AC voltage expected
Or get power pack tested at a music shop you may have a faulty power pack

How to measure the voltage on TV

Voltage measured on DC scale, black cable multitester / avometer put on a negative path or can be slipped on the silver wire in the tube that is not disposable wrapping.

Next, measure the voltages are available:
  • For 180v voltage can be measured on the positive pin elco (10uf/250v) in PCB RGB tube.stick pin red wire multitester
d3f355a.jpg
  • Voltage 110v for TVs 14 "-21" and 130v for 25 "-29" in the B + FlyBack Transformer (FBT), find the path there is elco 100uf/160volt. measure on a positive foot elco.
  • For 12volt voltage, please measure at the foot of the right edge of IC 7812.
534aece.jpg
  1. For voltage 5V, please measure the right foot of IC 7805.
  2. For voltage 33v, please search at the foot of VT in tuner.
  3. To measure 90v-300v, scale use DCV 250.
  4. To measure the 12v-40v, use a scale of 50 DCV
  5. To measure the voltage of 1V-9v, 10 DCV-scale use.
  6. How to measure the voltage on the yoke and in plyback is;
    • From the yoke horizontal = Fcc 110v DC, 1000 V. AC voltage can be removed with a red plug in output and in use as dB meter.
    • From the yoke pertikal 24 DC current model, except for disposable coupling C = 1 / 2 Fcc. While it could be IC 120V AC (with dB meter)
    • At Fcc FBT kolector; 110v DC, AC voltage = 1000 V..
    • At Fcc FBT filement / heater = 5V-5, 5V AC.
    • In the FBT 20-32k anode voltage V measured with 40kv HV probe is added to the multitester 1000 V. DC.
    • Voltage others depending on model and type of TV. 180v out there (for RGB) directly from the regulators, transformers, Video Amp taken from FBT.
    • There are 24V and 46v vertical FBT, also 12-18V depending on brand and type.
    • Voltage 600 V DC and focus around the screen 400v DC.

Thus tip n trick from me (AGUS YUSTIARA ), hopefully useful.

Can I measure.275 DC volts with my GDT - 311 multimeter?

Hi yes set the dial to 600 on the DC voltage for 275 Volts DC::: 2000m to 600 Volt DC ::::: dial in photo is pointing to DC voltage.:::::::.black
200 to 500 is AC voltage ::::: right hand side is Ohm's resistance .200 ohm to 2000K- Ohm ..1k-ohm=1000.Ohms.....cheers

It will not trurn on does the ac adapter need replacement it is over 10 yrs old

Look at adapter, see what output is supposed to be- maybe 12 volts DC? Find a multimeter that will measure DC voltage, and see if the output plug has that across the connector. If you have an ordinary power cord without an adapter, it will have 120 volts AC like any other cord, which you can also measure on AC scale, but be careful as you can get a dangerous shock, just like you can from an ordinary household outlet.
Note: AC voltage may vary by country.

Landice L8, tread won't turn.

Dear Neil:

Thank you by your request, I hope you are very well.

I am sorry for my delay.

You must proceed with this:

1) Check C. Breaker from your home if tripped, resset , and try again.
2) Check the power cord, for some cable loose or broker, repair or replace the power cord.
3) Now turn on the treadmill, if it does is o.k if doesnot proceed with C.BREAKER of the Treadmill, reset, and try it again.

Of course you must have some DVOM(digital voltmeter) for to Test this.

How to Check AC Volts with a Multimeter

The multimeter is an essential tool for electrical troubleshooting.

A multimeter is a versatile tool for measuring voltage and current. Electricians use multimeters to measure alternating current, or AC, and direct current, or DC, voltages and currents. Many multimeters also measure resistance, capacitance and temperature. For example, an electrician uses the multimeter's AC voltage setting to determine if a wall outlet has power or if a power supply is functioning. This knowledge helps the electrician pinpoint the cause of an electrical problem and select the appropriate repair.
Instructions

1.

    • 1

Plug the black voltage probe into the voltmeter jack marked "COM."

    • 2

Plug the red voltage probe into the voltmeter jack marked "V."

    • 3

Rotate the range selector knob to the highest range setting, which is marked "VAC."

    • 4

Turn the voltmeter on. Slide the power switch to the "ON" position.

    • 5

Touch the probes to the device for which you measure the AC voltage. Use extreme caution. Ensure that the probes do not come into contact with anything but the surface you are measuring.

    • 6

Read the voltmeter's display. Turn the range selector knob to a lower range if voltage is less than the currently selected range

My remote speaker system works with the batteries but not with the AC adaptor plugged in to the speaker.

I would suggest to check AC outlet first where adaptor is pluged in,if Ok measure output voltage from adaptor to see if there is any (using any voltage multimeter with AC/DC)
Check label on adaptor shold be writen AC or DC output ,and value 3V,6,9,12,24,48 etc...
If adaptor is ok then problem is power jack mounted in to the speaker (cold solder joints' or damage)

I have two questions. The first is what is the

The dial is for selecting which of the "multi" things you need for measuring (metering).

Set the dial to the DC area and select 20V or whatever is the lowset DC voltage setting that is higher than the battery voltage.

The meter does not put a "load" on the batteries, so the test is just an estimate of freshness of the battery.

Notes:
The meter voltage does not present any danger to the user. If you are not experienced, do not check any AC voltages.

MULTIMETER USAGE

Hello,

Is this an Auto-ranging multimeter or does it have several range settings such as 2V, 20V, 200V, 750V, etc.?

If it is an auto-ranging, you will have 2 voltage selections: AC (alternating current) which will have a sine wave similar to this: ~, or DC (direct current) which will have a symbol similar to this: =. AC is mainly used to measure the voltage in your home or voltage to appliances, either 110V/120V or 220V/240V. DC is used to measure voltages such as in electronic assemblies, computers, etc.

You need to know whether you are measuring AC or DC to get an accurate reading. You also need to make sure you have the meter on a high enough range if it is not an auto-ranging meter. The best thing to do is start on a high range and work down, although most meters have an overload protection.

To measure current you must "open the circuit" and place the meter leads in the circuit. This should only be done if you are very familiar using the meter. Current is measured in Amps (A), milliamps (mA), or microamps (uA). There is little use for the common person to measure current.

Not sure what you are going to use it for. Computer power supply, perhaps?

There are some tutorials on youtube that may be beneficial. Here's one:

Here is another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rivoVzxwNtI

You can do a search once there for others. Just insert "multimeter" in the Search box.

Not sure if I have answered your request sufficiently, but if you have more questions, just use the Comment button.

How do you check voltage utilizing the Craftsman Digital Multimeter 82082? Thanks.

If you don't have to drive, set the multimeter to 20 V DC, and measure on the battery poles. If you'd like to drive during measurement, you could measure on the cigar lighter socket.
