Hi, I have a Whirlpool AWOD 5526, it is probably about 11 or 12 yars old (so I'm not hopeful!) and until now has always run without problems. I had a filter clean error code about 6-8 months ago which I dealt with and has been OK since. Today it has stopped towards the end of a short wash programme, I think as it was about to rinse and spin and the red "service" light has come on and error code F07. Any ideas, I have only managed to find what the code means (2 different answer??) and not how to rectify it. Many thanks

F7=short circuit failure,ie =any number of small problems .But in this case I suspect a water flow problem, has the machine been moved and replaced ,,what im saying is the main water supply getting to the machine is a likely cause to show a f7 code,if not look at the water in as this is the likely problem.,Adrian....

Clean pump on a whirlpool AWOD 5526

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

If your machine has a filter, which most models do have, it is the filter which probably requires cleaning but check the operation of the pump/motor at the same time ;-0)

Following are my complete and hopefully 'coverall' pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Error F05 on my awod as147 steam washing maching

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
F05 for Whirlpool washers decodes as 'NTC failure'. NTC stands for Negative Temperature Co-efficient and all that means is the water temperature sensor ;-0)
I have heard that occasionally it can be brought back to life by pouring in a few kettles of hot water into the washer, leaving for 10 minutes, spinning the water out and re-trying. If it doesn't work it means a service call. Sorry ;-0(
Good luck,
John C.

Model #ed5ftgxkq01 ice maker stopped working

Hi

Looks like your fridge is not very old. Common problem is a clog inside the ice maker. It's a pain to do, probably easyer to get it fixed unless you have a long time to wait for a service call or live in an area without service. Anyway clog is most likely about an inch from the in take line inside the ice maker.

Take out the ice maker or turn off the freezer untill it thaw's then use a tooth pick or THIN ice pick to push the clog through to the actual freezing tray, wash out the tray and re start the ice maker.

Hope this helps.......

Our *** (whirlpool Mod # GC5SHEXNS00) gets very hot between the doors. We keep it clean underneath. I took the small back panel off and found that the fan is not working. I can probably replace the fan but...

Hi!!

If the condenser fan is not working, check to see if it is getting 110V when the compressor is woriking (they always work together), If the fan has power, then is damaged. Without the fan, the compressor will overheat and the thermal proteccion device will cut it off to prevent damage to it.

What is happening, is that the compressor kicks in, runs for about 10 min. overheats and quits. It will help if you set a fan in the back of the unit until you replace the damaged one.

I suggest to take the old fan to a hardware store or an autorized service station to make sure you are getting the same type/size fan.

Don't forget to rate this post!! Good Luck

I have a 10 year old MH7130XE Whirlpool microwave oven. The oven and key pad both work, and the oven heats just fine. The problem is the oven begins running as soon as you open the door...without pushing...

I'm assuming you mis-typed and meant the oven begins running when you SHUT the door and stops when you OPEN the door. Please tell me this is what you meant! If the microwave oven runs with the door open, UPLUG IT IMMEDIATELY AND DO NOT USE IT!!!

If the oven begins running without pushing the start button then the controller is bad or the Start button is worn out and making contact without pushing it. (Most likely it is your controller.) Generally, it is not worth the cost to replace the controller on a 10 year old microwave. Probably time for a new one.

But if you want, you can call Whirlpool and see what they suggest at 800-253-1301.

If this was helpful, please select YES to the first two RATINGS questions. Good Luck!
