Just installed and running tests to make sure everything works. When microwave tested, at end of cycle light went out, beeped 3 times, 3rd beep being a little longer than first 2, and fan stays running. After a couple minutes, it beeps same again. When you open the door it all stops. but microwave will not turn off by itself. no error codes etc.
The microwave is not supposed to shut off if you have food in it. it is designed to stay running so you will not forget your popcorn.

Sounds like a classic bad door switch or switch holder. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety info, info on door switch testing and replacement, and oven disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your base model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

I started having the same problem with my KBMC140HSSO. You cannot see the error codes without disassembling the control panel (the codes are on another display that covered by the front panel). After doing so I found the error code to be F2, E3 which is "Key held down too long, or key shorted". I am ordering a replacement keypad and will report back if this fixes the problem.
SOURCE: I have a Kitchenaid Microwave
F2 on a Kitchenaid microwave means you have a shorted keypad.
You have a failed keypad.
If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.
You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.
There
should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.
If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

The service man just left it was the 20 amp line fuse. Have one on order.

hi,
The F2 code is a keyboard failure. Since it's intermittent I would check for a loose wire/connection. open the control panel and reset the ribbon cable on the circuit board....
thank you,
