I assume the 10x2 means 10 squared. (I will show it as 10x**2)
(22x+11)(10x**2+5x) factors into"
11(2x+1)*5(2x**2+1x)
=55(2x+1)(2x**2+1x)
=(55x)(2x+1)(2x+1)
Multiplied out, it becomes 55x(4x**2+4x+1)
= 220x**3 + 220x**2 + 55x

Which of the following are rational numbers? 2 7 1.6 8 5.111... 9.111...

All are rational numbers. Any integer is such, and the others as written can be expressed as finite fractions ie

168 / 100
5111 / 1000
9111 /1000

If your notation means that the repeating decimal goes on forever eg

5.111111111111111111111111111111111111111..................

Then it still can be rational, as 46 / 9 is, and 82 / 9

How do I tell wether a number is rational or irrational?

If a number can be expressed as a ratio of two whole numbers then it's rational.
Alternatively, if a number can be expressed in decimal with a finite number of digits or as a repeating decimal then it's rational.

What can constitutes a rational expression

Haha it's not an expression which shows you are not crazy.

It is a fractional formula in which the top and bottom line are algebraic polynomials, whether low order (like x + 1) or higher order (like 4x^3 + 8x^2 - 7x + 5). See here

• What constitutes a rational expression? How would you explain this concept to someone unfamiliar with it?

A rational number is that number which can take the form a/b where a and b are non zero integers.
The numerator can easily be divided by the denominator and you get an answer which is exhaustive.

For example 2/5 gives 0.4; 3/10 gives 0.333... this is also rational
