SOURCE: Dishwasher Repair

It could be a motor or a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher. Check if motor spins. In case it spins, the problem is with the pump ,in case it doesn't spin it could be a motor problem or a motor and pump problem. Good luck

This is a bad control board that if replaced will only repeat in a short time .My advice is to contact the manufacturer and complain, you have the right as a consumer to do so.

SOURCE: My Siemens Hydrosensor dishwasher seems

It is obvious the drain or pump out is not working. There is a blockage in the outlet. Check the drain under the sink nby removing the hose and making sure the hole is not blocked. The pump in the dishwasher may be blocked. fixing this may not be within your field of expertise and a technician may be needed. Good luck

Testimonial: "After taking as much apart as I felt capable of to make sure there wasn't any blockage...it confirms my belief that it must not be pumping the water. "

Hotpoint diswasher won't drain or switch off and is constantly flashing f-2 , model is FDYF 2100 K

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
see the diagram attached, and proceed according.

Water seems to be hot enough, drains properly, arnms not blocked, dishes not being cleaned at end of cycle. Almost seems like it is skipping the wash cycle.

Hi smiller8565,
There is 3 basic problems that will cause a dishwasher to not clean the dishes. You can check these problems and see if any will solve your problems.
1: If there is water or suds left in the dishwasher after the cycle is complete. This will cause dirty water to be used in the final rinse and the dishes will not get clean.
2: The pump that supplies water to the spray arms is jammed or defective and unable to pump the water properly, thus causing the dishes to remain dirty.
3: Timer, the timer is not allowing the machine to work in the wash cycle.
The solutions for these 3 are as follows.
1: check the drain line for blockage, if you have a disposal make sure it is clear and water flows down the drain properly. If you have suds left in the dishwasher, clean them out and run a couple cycles with not detergent to rinse away the old suds.
2: Look down in the bottom for any obstructions in the pump. Popcorn seeds, broken glass, etc.
3: If the unit is skipping the wash cycle you will most likely need a new timer or control assembly.
Good luck and I really hope this will Fix Ya

Food odor builds up if dishes not washed daily, even though we rinse evrything thoroughly before loading dishwasher. No water remains at bottom - nothing appears to be stuck in drain. Any thoughts?

No matter how well you rinse wares, some food particles will always go into the machine. Sometimes these particles can build up and lead to what you describe. I would start by inpecting the wash tub area; remove screens, remove wash arms and clean as needed. You are looking for any residual food soil which would harbor bacteria. If all else fails, follow your nose!
Once everything is as clean as you can make it, then purchase a product for cleaning/deliming your machine. One I know of is called "Dishwasher Magic" which should be available at most appliance repair stores. Run this through the machine on a long or heavy cycle. Once complete, run a second cycle with nothing but water to rinse any lingering chemistry.
Lastly, for a 3rd (and final) cycle, add a cup of bleach to kill off any remaining odor-causing bacteria. But, DO NOT SKIP THE RINSE CYCLE mentioned above.
This should take care of the problem,
Kermit
