Flip Mino HD will not boot, charge or reset

Day 1: Recorded 58 minutes of video in 5 minute segments. Battery ran down during last recording, camera shut off. Camera would not accept a charge, reported "temp too high" with thermometer on screen. After sitting several hours to cool, still would not accept charge. Found instructions on web to reset by holding power button 10 sec. Reset still did nothing. Set camera aside for 12 hours. Day 2: Camera accepts charge, offload Day 1 video and erase all video from camera. Shoot 50+ minutes of new video, again in 5 min segments. Camera again dies and shuts off. Will not accept charge, will not reset via holding power button. Use paperclip to press internal reset button. Still no luck. Pressing power button, "Low Battery" screen appears with backlight on. Camera shuts down several seconds later. Day 3: Purchase external charger accessory (Flip branded charger) to attempt to get camera to charge (won't accept charge from latpop/USB) Camera still will not accept charge. Now camera will not even boot, and screen is dark. No "Low Battery" indicator.. Day 4 - 7: One website says "let camera sit for several days and try again" Camera not touched for 3 days. Day 8: When connected to power source, screen occasionally turns on, low battery icon with lightning bolt and red meter appears. Camera then shuts off after several seconds. No luck so far attempting to get camera to accept charge.
Should I just return it for a refund and forget about the video?

Try removing the batteries, plugging into your computer, popping the batteries back in, and removing. Wait 5 minutes, and plug back in! This should have an affect!

My flip mino HD has been charging for 3 hours and will not turn on. I've tried resetting the battery and it still won't turn on

Is it plugged in directly or with a USB extension cable? Some cheaper cables are not sufficient to charge it.

Flip Ultra HD red light won't turn off after charging. Camera won't do anything at all. What do I do?

UNIT: ultraHD
PROBLEM:
I just had this problem: I turned it on, started to record a video, but it hung up on frame #1, with the record red light stuck on. And I couldn't do any of the following: restart the recording, play already recorded videos, turn it off, connect to PC.
SOLUTION:
I removed the battery for about 30 seconds, then replaced it. my UltraHD flip works great now.

Camera software corrupted??

I had the same problem with my flip mino HD. Here are the steps I took to fix it.

1. Adjust the power options on your laptop to ensure it does not sleep/hiberate ever.
2. Reset the camcorder by inserting a paperclip into the hole in the tripod mount. Hold the paperclip in there for about seven seconds.
3. Then immediately plug the flip into the cpu.
4. You may not see anything besides the little blinking white light on the USB arm for a while (about 30 minutes maybe) but leave it in.
5. Eventually it should spring to life and show the recharging battery on the little screen (the Flip Share program may start too.)
6. Leave it charging until the little white light stops flashing - full charge about 3 hours.
7. You can then remove the flip and change the power settings back to normal.

My flip video camera froze.it wont turn on....

Have you tried resetting the camera? Hold down the power button and the red button simultaneously until the camera shuts off (takes about 10 seconds). Then, just press the power button again and the camera should turn back on. I had the same problem; when I pressed the red button to stop recording, the camera froze, and the red light remained on. I tried resetting it like this, and it seemed to work.

Zero space to record but no files on camera

MAC Users....

Remember those annoying "hidden files"...that's the problem.

Go to Utilities/ Disk Utility/ (select the Mino)/ Erase (up top)/ Erase (near the bottom)

and the problem will be resolved.....

Make it a great day

Flip Mino HD Screen Frozen

I had the same problem when it was brand new straight out of the box. Below is Pure Digital's (manufacturer of the Mino HD) response. This did solved my problem.

"Please ensure that you are gently touching the operational buttons on the camcorder rather than pressing them. Pressing too hard, or too rapidly in succession while waiting for a response, can desensitize the touch pad, requiring a reset of the camcorder.

If you find that the Mino has already frozen, we suggest resetting the camcorder.

To reset, simply take a pin and insert it into the reset hole within the camera’s tripod mount, wait five seconds before powering on, and then power on without touching any of the buttons on the back of the camcorder for an additional five seconds.

Please note that resetting the camcorder in this manner will not affect the videos resident on the camcorder; it will simply reset the screen and button sensitivity on the Mino.

Thank you,
Flip Video Support"

I hope this helps.

BTW my Mino HD has frozen twice now (I've had it for 2 hours total so far!) and the reset trick has fixed it both times. It seems to me the buttons are too sensitive or the computer program not the most stable. I hope this is the last of the problems!
