you need one of these

take the lid off and open the door
isolate the mains supply and water supply

remove the two screws that secure the interlock
this is what the doors catch sits in
reach down and tilt slide it out
remove the plug
plug in the new one
and remount
screw back in the two screws hand tight avoid stripping the plastic

and return the lid in position
now reconnect the water and mains and test
the door closes and the machine should now work aok
did one the other day

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question!!!!

Hotpoint WMA33 washer- The machine was in a final spin after a 95 degree wash when the power to the house was tripped by the washing machine, since then the machine will not start, all the lights come on...

Possible the surge would have made some changes in the main processor memory or damaged the processor. You can shut down the washer and remove the plug for few hours. press down all the panel buttons to drain all residual voltage on the board.
If the same fault repeats then it is possible there are errors on the board.

We recently bought a new Hotpoint WMF760P washing machine and within a couple of weeks of using it noticed that it kept tripping all of the electrics out in the house, when it goes into it's final fast...

I have seen this before with a number of machines when they were a little overloaded. I've never been convinced that I understood why it happened, though I always suspected a motor overload of some kind causing the issue. This said. There is absolutely no reason for a machine to trip the mains unless it's faulty.

If you have a friendly neighbour who doesn't mind you killing the power in their house, you could always run an extension lead from a neighbour to your house and see if it kills their power too. But like I say, at the end of the day, if it trips the power and you have your electrics checked, then I would INSIST that you get a replacement from Hotpoint. Things that use water and electricity are not to be messed with!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
There is likely to be a problem with either the door solenoid/lock or the 'door closed' sensor. Both require a service engineer's attention I suggest ;-0(
If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Hotpoint WF640

the f-01 error code on your hotpoint all in 1 washer/dryer is a short circuit code for the motor. the only way to clear the code is to have a service tech come and inspect the reason for the error.
