Different threads, re-thread machine, different user,different stitches, clean and lube bobbin area

Very likely the thread is kind of bound up in the bobbin area. Just turn the hand wheel a bit forward and backward several times -after you lift the foot. Apply a gentle pull on the fabric and it should "break" loose. Often teh thread is still stretched around teh bobbin and this releases it.

Moses, this did not answer the problem. There is no binding whatsoever in the bobbin area. It is all stopping up in the hand wheel area.
Sorry for being so late in this answer. Are you sure there is no thread stuck under or in the bobbin area. That from my experience is most often the problem with locking up. Moe
