have the unit checked by an authorized generator repair shop
if it was operating when shore power came back on there is every possibility that the generator or inverter has been damaged from the lack of synchronization of the sine wave
I know this is an old post, but did you ever find out? Im in the same boat ...i just need the 3 or 4 wire locations behind the switch on the left side, not the harness on the right side ..any help? Mike
good luck, i dont even think they make one. just get a phone cord plug it in and see which two wires make it turn on. touch them momentarily to see..........you know what i'll just do it and report back
no these are made to run off a batteries the 12 volt supplied from the gen is for charging batteries only and if the engine for starting the gen set has a battery theirusual to small to run then their made for car style batterers. hope this helps
NO! DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. The problem is that you cannot maintain the phase relationship between them. Both of the generators must turn at precisely the same speed and precisely together - which is virtually impossible without connecting the two generators together on a common shaft, which would be impractical to the point of ridiculous.
First thing to check is to see if the generator is actually turning--couplers sometimes fail. You need some electrical skills and a voltmeter to trace down problems in the generator beyond checking the health of the two brushes that supply current (< 115 volts DC) into the rotor field circuit. You can find wiring and schematic drawings on the Troy-Built web site, just look for the 030248 model. Another person that I worked with had a similar unit with the same problem. It looked like the voltage regulator board was the problem, but haven't heard back if he had fixed it.
