The SSID of a wireless network is determined by the wireless access point (AP) that you are using. Some AP's have a label on the bottom that give the SSID and Key for that particular network. Some AP's broadcast the SSID and that can be read off the air when you attempt to connect. Those are the 'available' networks that show up in the wireless network list. If you are trying to connect to a network that is not your own, you need to get the connection data, including the SSID and network key, from the person providing the network. There are open networks that broadcast their SSID and don't require any key, but those networks are not secure and data transmitted on them can be stolen.

How do I find my SSID number on Acer Iconia One 7

The SSID number is the identity of the router you are trying to connect to, not your computer.

Turn on the Wi-Fi under settings and look at the list of SSID's there.

Hp slate 7 2800 8 gb silver at the screen for wifi asking for ssid don't what that mean haven't used it's been sitting in box given to me for a birthday present dont what to do

The SSID is the name that is broadcast by the wireless router to identify the wireless network(s). Most devices will perform a scan and provide a list of detected wifi networks. The names you see on the list are the SSIDs. It is possible for a wireless network to exist but not broadcast its SSID. In those cases you must manually enter the SSID in order for the device to scan for, locate, and attempt to connect to the wifi network.

Need to find SSID

Look on the side or bottom of the modem/router. Generally there is a white label with SSID and password. The SSID is generally set to 'broadcast,' so doing a network scan on your tablet should come up with the SSID on a list, but if that is not the case, or if you pick up multiple SSIDs (as in an apartment building or condo), then check the label. You will have to check the label for the password, anyway. Have fun!

How can i connect my samsung tablet to my wireless internet?

I assume you are either unable to see your network listed or when you select your network from the list of active Wi-Fi Networks within range of you device and depending on security level no password or the Security Key you have doesn't work. First, make sure you have a few pieces of information: 1) The SSID or name of the network 2) The security type and password 3) If no DHCP service you'll need the ip address subnet and an available address for your device, ip address of the gateway/router, & ip address of the DNS servers. Usually the router provides DHCP and provides all of the addressing information.

Typically, you are provided the SSID and a security key or password. On your tablet open settings and turn Wi-Fi in necessary and look for your SSID in the list to the right. If your SSID is not shown verify the name, that the router is on and you are within range. Be aware of obstructions between you and the router. My Pool House is a virtual dead zone due to some electrical wiring on the wall it shares with the office. The router is less than 5 feet away, but the signal is unreliable. If everything is working and still no SSID on list, then it may be hidden. Simply, select Add Wi-Fi Network at the bottom and enter the SSID (Netgear987), security type (WPA OR WPA2 typically) and the password (PASSWORD maybe case sensitive). If it connects and fails to obtainan ip address or just drops it may indicate another layer of security that requires each device MAC ID is added to the list of authorized devices for that router. Your MAC ID is listed on the Settings_About Device_Status screen WiFi MAC Address: (F7:C7:AE:78:E6:FC). Sounds like a lot but usually verified SSID and password do the trick. Good Luck

Ssid number

Its the NAME usually in the letter from your broadband provider, a seperate card or a sticky label on the back or base of the router

Wireless Network
Name (SSID) WillyWombat785837
Key: 1234ABcD

Click on the SSID in your list of wifi networks and put in your KEY remembering to put the Case in correctly when it asks for password (confusing, wish they asked for key rather than password)

Good luck

That is your wireless network's name. For example, if your wireless network is named 'MyWireless' then the SSID you need to connect to is 'MyWireless'.

I have an Arnova 9G2 tablet and a Netgear WNDR3300 wireless router. How do I add the wi fi network to the tablet? I donot have any SSID for the router.....

Without the SSID, you can't add the Arnova tablet to that network. The default SSID for the WNDR3300 is NETGEAR. You'll need to log into the router (preferably with a device on the wired network ports). Make sure that the wireless network is on and broadcasting its SSID for the 2.4GHz network. Confirm the password (passkey) and the encryption protocol. (The default user name and password for the router is in the manual, see page 19 (page 23 on the PDF) of http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WNDR3300V1/WNDR3300_SM_12Nov07.pdf . )

The tablet will look for available networks after you go to the Settings menu on the Home screen. Go to the Wireless & Network. Then turn on the Wi-fi (if needed) and then go to Wi-fi settings. Then find the SSID and enter the password and encryption type.

I hope this helps.
