I have a smartparts model Spx12 picture frame worked for years now has a black screen when turned on but if you look close you can see it flickering. Any ideas now to fix it?

Unplugged for a day and plugged back in. Took back off to make sure connections were not loose.

Black screen may be indication of dead ccfl (light bulbs that light up the screen), bad inverter board (Board that powers the lights) or a combination of both.
It may be repairable, however as Davis stated, it may be cheaper to replace the frame entirely.
Inverter boards can range from $20-200
and CCFL bulbs for lcd's can range between $10-30 per bulb.

I bought a SmartParts digital picture frame and I'm trying to replace the battery. Can you tell me where the battery is and how to replace it?

No battery David. It is mains powered via a small AC adapter.

Find a replacement power chord

That power supply is a 9 volt power supply. Check near the plug or on the unit itself and see if it shows the polarity of the plug. You might be able to get one at radio shack. Be sure to take the bad one with you when you go. Or you can call smart parts at (888) 796-2749.

PANDIGITAL Digital Photo Frame works perfectly except the SCREEN Flickers Black after a few moments

Annemarie, I had a similar problem with an off-brand photo frame from Wal-Mart last year, although in my case the frame would shut down entirely after it had flickered a few times. In my case, I was able to remove the back of the frame's case by removing 4 screws (two were hidden underneath model number stickers) and inspecting the device's innards... what I found was that, as you surmised, there was a loose connection from the female end of the DC-in power supply. The ground connection to the device's circuit board had been poorly soldered, leaving the connection itself loose and a small piece of solder on top of the board and very near the positive connection.
While not being the best solderer in the world, with the aid of a magnifying glass, a solder removal tool, and a ColdHeat soldering wand, I was able to heat the offending piece of solder and remove it from the circuit board and then, as I was personally uncertain of my ability to re-solder the connection without melting the board, I simply held the connection in place and applied a dab of hot glue to keep it there. After the glue cooled, I reassembled the case and the frame worked for almost another year before something else finally burned out and it was left cold and dark.
Hope this helps, good luck!

Delete pictures from smartparts ps-74

Do not connect to the computer. Turn the frame on. Use the remote and I can't remember how I did it, maybe SETUP, but it gave me a drop down to delete all photos and I hit enter and it did it. Hope this helps a bit.

Hi :) can you help me? My smartparts digital screen is black. If I look really closely I can barely make out the pictures on the slide show...I don't know the exact model number.

Hi. Most likely your screen backlight could be burnt out so you just might have to get them replaced at your nearest dealership available to you.

thanks and good luck
