Yes, follow what Jeff said and you may have to go into settings to enable the Audio OUT.

here are a few more things to check:
-make sure you going from Audio OUT on TV to Audio IN on the speakers.
-make sure the speakers are ON and functioning (you can test with another device)
-or you can try another speaker with the TV to see if the speaker is the problem.

Near the Audio / Video inputs on your tv, you should see a "headphone" jack or it may be labeled "Audio Out"
some sound bars plug into these jacks using standard heaphone jack.
Other sound bars may need to be connected to the device your using on your tv. (DVD player, cable box, etc.)
Tv speakers can then be disabled in the "Audio" menu of your tv.

Check the TV's audio menu to make sure there will be signal available at the RCA outputs

Hook up sound bar to zenith plasma tv

If the sound bar has the red and white cable then yes you can use those. Make sure in your settings for the TV you have it set for an external audio source. Since you don't want to use the built in speakers. Probably best to get a tuner if using multiple speakers and a sub.

We're trying to hook up an ilive sound bar to a samsung 42

If you tried hooking each unit up one at a time without the box and they work either a setting on that box is wrong or there is a problem with the box.

Our tv screen just went out and we still get the sound but no pic. I have replugged in the hook ups and still didn't work. Any advise?

Good day!!

That problem is cause of faulty inverter board...

Inverter board is the responsible for the back-light so if your TV is no back-light that could be the problem...

Please try to replace it to fix your problem..

How do I hook up my little DVD player to my tv?? The DVD player only has red, yellow, and white cords,, where to I plug it in at on the back of the tv and which setting.

New Samsung HDTVs use the GREEN RCA input for the yellow RCA video cable, plug it in there. Select the AV input on the TV. For sound, connect white RCA cable to white RCA input on TV.

No surround sound on normal tv just dvds

Do you have a cable box or satellite box? If you do, try hooking up your TV sound through the box. Look for audio out in the back of box (white/red RCA Jacks). Hook RCA cable from cable box to surround amp. Even if the audio out jacks are being used already, you can use Y connectors to hook up the surround amp to the box.
Hope this works for you!
