Try doing a soft-reset by pressing power and home buttons at the same time until you see the apple logo. Maybe your screen is broken. You can try taking it to a repair shop and get it evaluated.

To use Siri, simply hold your thumb or finger down on the power button. You will hear a double tone when it is open. For Siri settings, go to Settings, General, then check for Siri either in the left hand menu (IOS 10) or on the right side menu.
You may have a screen saver running in background which you need to disable in general display settings.try holding the power button for at least ten seconds then try and restart the tablet after you have done that.
Try using it in a quiet place without a lot of background noise or loud music playing, and don't clear your throat or cough, etc. before speaking, just start right in.
Try charging it with the electrical wall plug-in. I read in some Kindle reviews on Amazon that charging through USB ports on a computer doesn't always work. Did you get a green light that indicated the battery was fully charged?
Try letting it have a full charge. Occasionally this is the problem with a black screen. If that doesn't work, call kobo. They should replace your lookbook with little trouble. Just be patient if you go this route, it takes around a month to get the replacement, and the replacement is a refurbished unit as a heads up. Personally, I was more than happy with my replacement. No more problems! :)

1. Charge the laptop battery to 100 percent. Allow the laptop to sit plugged-in and fully-charged for approximately two hours.
2. Click the "Battery" icon in the lower, right corner of the Windows Taskbar and click "More Power Options." Click "Change When the Computer Sleeps," then click "Change Advanced Power Settings."
3. Scroll down to "Battery" and click the "Plus Sign" icon next to it. Click "Critical Battery Level," then click the arrow to decrease the number to "3." Click "Apply," then click "OK."
