The cd lid (top) won't stay down

There is a physical mechanism that should lock in when it's pressed down. Usually there is a release button for that mechanism when you need to open it. I would try using tape and see if it will play when it's taped shut. Depending on the mechanism this may be your only option.

PULL THE WHOLE TOP UP THERE ARE TWO CLIPS THAT HOLD IT TO THE FRAME IN FRONT YOU CAN POP IT UP WITH A FLAT HEAD SCREW DRIVER TO KEEY THE LID FROM CRASHING DOWN ON U TAPE THE LID TO THE FRAME IT SITS ON

use duct tape to hold the lid down.....just kidding. insert the key into the lock and see if it will UNLOCK.

lid switch problems are common. take the top of the washer and feel around for the wires to the switch there should be 2 of them and unplug them, then hold them together so they contact each other and tape them together with electrical tape and that should get you going (TURN OFF POWER FIRST)

Get a CD Cleaner and check your electric current output to make sure it matches the voltage requirement.

If the CD Cleaner doesnt work, then replace your CD Lens

My machine has the same problem and I got the same response from the company. I discovered a quick fix. With needle nose plyers I removed the wire from the corner of the lid that holds the lid open. Without the wire, the lid remains closed and the CD will play. The downside is that its tricky to open the lid. I've been using the piece of wire I removed to gently pry the lid open. I think I will glue a knob or ribbon to the top of the lid to make it easier to open. This isn't a perfect fix, but it was quick & free and now I can use my machine!

Yeah, unscrew the 2 top screws. Underneath the lid, there's instructions on how to manually remove the tape. You're also going to have to pull out the tape tray. There's a metal piece holding it down that you can remove by taking out the 2 screws. Then it's a matter of pulling the tray out and turning the tiny gear at the front (not the 2 bigger ones on the side) until it makes the full motion path. Holy ****, that takes a long time. Once you have removed the tape, replace the tray, the holding bar, the 2 screws for that, and the cover.

The lid switch can cause this problem. try pushing the lid toward the rear of the machine and see if it starts running. Also check the screws holding the hinge on the left side to make sure they are tight.
