I have a Frigidaire side by side. Model # FGHS2644KF. The freezer is set to 0 degrees but keeps falling to as little as -12 degrees. After turning off and back on will regulate for few days and the do it again. Any suggestions?

Solution Found! The problem is when the temperature surrounding the
refrigerator in the garage falls to < 45 degrees, the thermostat
regulating the refrigerator will not call for the compressor to kick in
to provide cooling (it's temperature requirements are being met). Since
there is no demand, the compressor will not cycle, which is how the
freezer is kept cold, and the freezer eventually warms up to match the
refrigerator temperature. Frigidaire makes a "Cold Kit" that I ordered
and installed from RepairClinic.com for $22 (Item
#: 1037646; Description: Garage kit). It's basically a strip heater
that runs off the control power to warm the thermostat and causes the
compressor to cycle once to twice a day to keep the freezer frozen.
After installation, the refrigerator stays at 40-45 and the freezer
stays around 0 degrees.

you would have to remove the back lower panel of the freezer section to get a feel as to whats going on in there. behind the panel you will find an evaporator panel that should have consist ant frost pattern from top to bottom with no excessive clumps of ice.I'm assuming you don't otherwise your refrig would be working ok..
either theres only the top 1 or 2 coils actually have ice on them, and the rest of the coil is bright shiny aluminum. or there is an excessive amount of ice built up so far that you dont even see an evap coil.
if the first is true and threre little frost then that points to a sealed system/ low freon issue. and call a servicer. you should have a full 5 yr warr. for sucha problem
if its the second issue hen theres a defrost problem and youll need to replace either the defrost heater, defrost thermstat( most likely),or the defrost board/timer

Hello cokoliso,
Welcome to Fixya
You said, your Trio won't make ice. Freezer stays at about 25 degrees regardless
of control setting. Fridge maintains 40 degrees at mid setting.
Shouldn't the freezer be close to zero? Is there a way to check the
temperature sensor in the freezer?
To check the temperature you can buy a refrigerator thermometer at the hardware store.
Ask if it can be used in the freezer too!
The fridge sounds slightly to cold and the freezer not enough.
Fist look in your freezer and check if the articles there are full to the max and covering the air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer. If so clear an opening for the freezer to breath.
Refrigerators and freezers usually share the cold air and I've seen this be the problem on many occasions.
If freezer was not I blocking the vents or even full to the max.
Then pull the plug out or if you can not reach the plug, trip the breaker off for 5 minutes and see if this resets the system.BUT do not plug the fridge back in before at least 3 minutes.
Let me know how it goes and send me any questions.
Thank You, Huuum

Hi,
As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
