I've got a 26cc ryobi electric start and when I go to start it it doesn't start I took the spark plug out and the piston doesn't move what do you think it is thanks

I try to start it but it's like the rope is jammed so I took the starter off the back and try to turn the piston but it wouldn't move

If it has been sitting for a while the piston may be rusted stuck.

You have to make sure the case of the plug is making good connection against the metal on motor. Use file or sandpaper to get good connection on the plug and the motor.

SOURCE: Starting problem with a Ryobi rlt30ces petrol strimmer

Hi
I have had the similar problem & spent a day stripping the unit down
(dismantled & re-assembled the carb, seemed OK fuel reaching & flooding the plug) I unscrewed the spark plug from the body, but left it connected to the lead and found that there was intermittent spark when pulling the cord. and tested it with a continuity meter - no signal/measurement. bought a new spark plug, meter reading showed signal/measurement, now starts every time. It may be that Ryobi has been installing rather cheap nasty plugs. So test the plug first by watching the spark when pulling cord, test with a meter, if no continuity, buy new plug....

Check also that little gauze air filter behind the roto choke is not blocked.
this solved it for me.

SOURCE: ryobi cs30 rope problem

try removing the starter housing, inside will be a large white or black wheel, visually inspect to make sure the componets are not damaged and that nothing jamming it. try using a lithium spray grease to lubricate the componets. if it still doesn't work the inner coil is probably damaged or came off track. it is very difficult to fix or replace this coil. i suggest taking to your nearest service center but if you would like to try it yourself, let me know and i will give you further instructions.

Ryobi RBV26B 26cc Petrol Blower wont start - Help !

Hi,

It sounds like you've done a long list of troubleshooting activities. At this time, it might be good to call Ryobi and ask them for a local dealer that can provide a free in-person analysis of your machine in order to get it to start again.

Thank you.

It wont start,I replaced the spark plug

Joe try putting some fuel in where the spark plug goes. If it still doesn't fire then proceed to eliminate things. Firstly the air filter will need cleaning then the spark coil. If it still don't fire check the switch is ok. Sometimes the switch breaks a circuit and helps with the running of it.

No spark

Try changing the spark plug. These two cycle engines are really rough on plugs.

Can not get my Ryobi gas trimmer to start. It is fairly new and have never had a problem. It is getting gas and I've changed the spark plug but still can't get it to start.

There are 2 stroke and 4 stroke Ryobi's. The most common non-spark problem is the coil. (at least for me) Is it getting spark???

I have a 2 year old Ryobi RY34440 String trimmer, 30cc. Last year worked fine, this year pull cord is so easy to pull it doesn't even turn engine over. Is is the spark plug?

Either the pull starter is not pulling or you are not getting compression. To check you need to check the spark plug is still snug. If so, remove the plug and put a drinking straw in the hole to touch the piston. Slowly pull the starter to see if the piston is moving. If the piston is moving and the plug was snug then you are losing compression somewhere, like a head gasket. If not moving then the problem most likely is in the starter, and disassembly required to investigate.

If really helpful, please rate.

Is the Ryobi model CS26 considered a professional weed trimmer?

The Ryobi curved shaft trimmer is a consumer grade trimmer. Both the 26cc & the 30cc engines from Ryobi (Homelite) are pretty light duty. They have 1 piston ring and use an anodized aluminum piston and cylinder. A commercial grade engine would have 2 or 3 piston rings and the cylinder and piston would be chrome plated for longer life. Look for the emissions label on your trimmer. The emissions code of C would indicate a 50 hour emissions longevity (consumer grade). A code of B would indicate 125 hour emissions longevity (estate grade). A code of A would indicate 300 hour emissions longevity (commercial grade).
I hope this helps.
