My email comes in but does not ( forward) go out
Have a look at this:http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201320 your POP/IMAP and smtp settings have to be as described by your email provider. For example, these are Yahoo mail settings:
Incoming Mail (POP) Server - Requires SSL
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires TLS
