How do I replace the very noisy bearing on a Whirlpool Duet front loading Washer

Machine is less than two years old. Sounds like jet taking off on spin cycle. Unit was purchased Feb-Apr 2013 Has done so since 2-3 months after purchase. Thought this was normal for these. Now almost unbearable!

Unfortunately, you can't just replace the bearing because the bearing is located in the rear half of the outer tub. This is an extensive project but if you still feel like tackling it, then goto YouTube.com and type in, "How to change tub bearing on a whirlpool duet load washer. You can get a visual description for a DIYer. I hope this helps you out. Good luck to you.

Were I not disabled, I'd tackle it myself. It probably would be above my lifting limits of 15 to 20 pounds. Oh well ....

Only fix is to replace inner and outer tubs and for the cost of that you could buy new machine.

I was told the bearing is shot on the Whirlpool Duet Washer and it is not worth repairing, the machine is only 6 year old, any advice?

a 6 year old washer should not be scrapped unless it is made in china, replacing a 5$ bearing is worth fixing. even if you need to buy a drum unit.
