What would make a McCulloch FG6000MK 11 HP generator start and idle fine but not able to rev-up and generate power.

Hello, my dad's McCulloch FG6000MK 11 HP, 4 stroke, 5.7 KVA, 5700 Watt generator will start and idle smoothly without shutting off, but it will not rev-up to be able to generate any power. My dad has cleaned the lines and checked the tank in case a helicopter seed had fallen in, but there seems to be no obstruction as the fuel flows freely. It is kept out of the dirt and elements in a cement-floor building and has hardly been used. My dad is extremely mechanically-inclined but cannot determine the cause. Please help.

Have to an ultrasinic cleaning of the carburetor and see if that will clean up the problem,

Bad on parts though most are NLA. but a carburetor from a Honda 11hp horizonal might work on this Chinese Honda cloned engine.

What spark plug does a mc collough 5700 11 hp generator take?

The manuacturers part number is: 030506Q01F910

Is there a brand.... on your current spark plug?

Most generators will do just fine with an NGK BPR5ES spark plug in most any environment.

McCulloch 5700, 11 HP Starts easy with 2 pulls and begins running fine. Then it start dying and back fires, revs up and down, back fires. Then will run normal for a few minutes and will start revving up...

Sounds like you may have a wire shorting out. Check all ign wires and make sure one hasnt rubbed through. Maybe take off your front cover and make sure something isnt shorting out your coil contacts. Hope this helps

McCULLOCH FG2000Tc engine starts but idle

Hi,
Check the valve clearances with a feeler guage. Over time the valve lash adjustment vibrates a little looser than we want and the engine gets hard to start, runs rough, etc. After the engine warms up the heat makes the valve tappets expand enough to make the engine smooth out.

Regards,
Carl

Mcculloch generator 5700W 11 hp

Sounds like your choke is not closed correctly when you first start the genset. Remove the air filter and look at the throttle plate. It should be closed with a hair line gap. With your finger you should feel very little play on the throttle plate. As you open the choke, you should be able to open it all the way once the engine has reached a hotter temperature. If the engine is still cold and your opening the choke all the way, it will try to die out.
