I have a sony hcd vx8 which had a problem with protect push power,so i read some of the solutions from here about changing STK411-240e.After changing the ic,the protect push power was gone but no sound. It started producing a bad & small sound then after adjusting the volume to around 20,protect push power was back,so i switchrd it off by unpluging from mains then on again & push power was gone but still no sound. The back relay clicks when i power the receiver.

SOURCE: Denon DRA-25/25L Stereo Receiver.

Without looking at the schematics for this particular model, I'd surmise that the click is indeed a speaker protection relay. Generally this is fed by a number of different sense circuits that watch for power amp issues and/or excess speaker current and/or power supply output stability. Although the relays do indeed fail at times, generally it is not the relay that is at fault. If you have a scope and a schematic, you can check the various circuits that feed the relay for the exact cause. If not, you can do some experiments that might help deduce the problem: e.g. do headphones work when speakers do not, does the relay click on when no speakers are connected (or selected), etc. In my experience, it is most often the output transistor(s) in the power amp. But not always ;-)

Take the case off and clean out the fan, it worked for me, it was the protection circiut kicking in to prevent the amp from blowing.

Sony home theater model no hcd-dz570 push power protect error on display what,s solution?

Check the speaker connection. One of them has a shortcircuit. Try to disconect all of them and power on the device. See what is happen. If starts corectly check the speaker cable. Conect one by one and power up the receiver after each connection. When you get the error again check the last conected cable. These receivers have a protection system against shortcircuits. That is puting your device in that error.

Sony lbt-x5g500

Power protect tends to mean the main power amp chip has "blown" and needs to be replaced. It only costs about 20 dollars (10GBP). If you are handy with a soldering iron it is easy to do (after you get the thing to bits !) It is the big black thing on the big heatsink inside. The Sony part number is STK442 - 130. Seems a waste to throw the whole thing away for the sake of 10 pounds !. Hope this helps. Nik Howell ([email protected])
