I removed the sender, greased both the wind vane and cuos. now the wind speed is fine but the direction dowsnt move although looking at the vane directly, it points as it should. I did a calibration and since then the unit wont give proper direction. Any advice anyone?

I assume you have an ST-50 or ST60 windvane setup. These are the calibration instructions from the unit manual for the ST-50. They are the same for the ST-60 and ST-60+ units.

Hope it helps you.

Initial Calibration Windvane Alignment
Before the unit is used for navigational purposes the masthead transducer must be accurately aligned to the vessel. Before this procedure is carried out the windvane should be linearised as follows.

1 . Powerup lhe ST50 Plus Wind instrument.

2. Tum the vessel through two complete circles, making sure that the windvane remains in line with the wind -the instrument will automatically linearise the windvane.

Alignment
1. Press and hold CAL for 2 seconds until CO is displayed by the LCD.

2. Press < > to move the pointer to the correct wind angle.- WIND
- Press < > once to move the pointer by 1 degree.
- Press < > for 1 second to move the pointer by 10 degrees/second.
The LCD will now display the applied correction.

3. Press and hold CAL for 2 seconds to exit and store windvane alignment.

Windspeed Unit Selection

1 . Press and hold CAL until Ul (Knots) or U2 (Meters/second is displayed.

2. Press CALwithin 8 seconds to change the windspeed units selection.

3. After 8 seconds the wind instrument returns to normal operation.

SOURCE: autohelm st50 how to calibrate??? wind instrument

I had one. Don't think you calibrate it. Reading is relative to it's mounting base. To change the direction reading, you would need to rotate the base.

Bobbin is not feeding properly- didn't wind on evenly.

It is important that the bobbin be wound smoothly for the machine to operate properly. First, check that you are threading the machine correctly to wind the bobbin. There is a tensioner for the bobbin winder that helps wind the bobbin smoothly so incorrect threading will cause issues. Also, try to wind your bobbin slower. There is no advantage to winding the bobbin on high speed.

If you continue to have bobbin winding issues, there is a standalone bobbin winder (SideWinder) avlb at JoAnn's or even Amazon for ~$30,. They are electric or battery operated. Be sure to verify your machine bobbins will work on the SideWinder before purchasing as some bobbins are not compatible. The bobbin winder is a handy gadget since multiple bobbins can be wound quickly, plus bobbins can be wound without having to unthread the machine, not to mention reducing the wear and tear on your sewing machine.

How can one test a ST40 wind instrument ?

According to the Raymarine forum, aside from making sure that the spade lug connections are good and clean, there isn't a field test for the ST40. The recommended remedy is for you to send the complete unit to Raymarine for evaluation. Here's the link to that forum.
Sorry I couldn't be the bearer of better news.

Hi i recently bought a used F3/T. Just ran a 36 exp roll and everything seemed to work fine. However i realized on loading a new roll, that the film counter did not reset. It remains at frame 37. How can i...

This won\'t be easy for you if you don\'t the proper tools, You have to remove the wind lever assy, and the speed dial, Then wind side top cover, Then pull wind base plate assy, And check counter reset lever, to make sure spring didn\'t come loose, Putting the baseplate back on can be fun because of linkage to the wind assy

I have a windshield on a 2004 883xl harley. it is a high windshield but when i ride at speeds above 40mph it seems the wind is coming around the shield and pushing up against my chest and throat making it...

A windshield is supposed to direct the air up and over your head. In order to do this, the windshield must first be big enough. Too many people are opting to buy these small windscreens as opposed to full sized windshields. The wind screens are sufficient for the the sport bikes due to the way they are designed so that the rider lies down behind them. But, on a bike that is designed to be ridden in the upright postition, they don't work well. They may look cool but the don't keep the wind off of you.

Next, the windshield must be mounted at the correct angle. Usually, if the windshield is the proper design, this is not a problem as it's basically the same angle as the front end rake.

So, the only thing you can do to stop the problem you are having is to purchase a different windshield.

Autohelm mast Wind speed unit. Bottom bearing worn out. Can this be replaced, or where can I get a full replacement unit. Len

The part number for the lower pod is Q002. I am willing to bet that Raymarine will not have any more of these. The new ST60+ version will read faster than what the wind is actually.

Raymarine ST6002 Smartpilot Alarm Message ''Seatalk Fail 2''

Very possible that the Wind instrument has a defective Seatalk interface - it happened to me. You could try your Wind in another boat, just connecting it temporarily to the Seatalk Bus - if it jams those it is the problem

Your autopilot should have a separate Course Computer such as the 100, 400, S1... somewhere. Some models have two SeaTalk busses, and the recommended installation is to use one bus for the 6002 control head alone, and the other bus for instruments etc, so a SeaTalk fail on the instrument bus will not disable he Autopilot. I retired my boat this way (after the dealer took the one-bus shortcut).

The real solution is to have the Wind instrument fixed. The cheapest work-around is to cut the yellow SeaTalk wire between the 6002 and the Wind, so that the Wind instrument gets power but does not affect the data bus. That should let the AP and Wind each work normally and independently (no Wind-angle mode on the AP).
