The first thing I would check is the thermostat setting. if you are at a higher altitude water boils at a lower temperature. The correct setting for your altitude can be found in the user's manual or on the button support site if you don't have one. the temperature inside the tank can be found by removing the small vent line from the top of the tank and inserting a thermometer and the thermostat can be adjusted by turning the small screw inside we tube sticking out of the thermostat at least that's the way it is an old machine I'm not familiar with the newer thermostats. hello jack is how long it's been since the unit was cleaned. Scale buildup inside the tank can insulate the thermostat from reading the correct temperature of the water. There is an answer about cleaning this type of machine here on fixya. I write this is soo mean that the dinner is out of warranty since if it is it hard to you then certainly having it repaired but would be the best option.

It sounds like the thermostat needs to be change. it is located under the top of the unit. Should be on the left side under the lid. Visit this link to get an idea of the part..http://www.ereplacementparts.com/thermostat-kit-p-847667.html.

SOURCE: my bunn coffee maker leaks

You need to replace the washer kit inside the top of the maker. Remove the 3 screws that fasten the top and lift it off. You will see the rocker leaver that allows the water to flow into the tank. At the point where the rocker stops the water there is a series of washers that degrade from the heat over time and allows the leak. The washers are very easy to replace. The problem is finding the washer kit. I found it at: www.buyitnow64.com for $3.95 plus shipping (FedEx is only $9.98). I bought 2 (one for backup) kits. The original washers lasted almost 6 years. I had repaired this problem before with a washer from my shop but it broke down rather quickly from the direct heat from the tank. This washer kit is a Bunn washer kit that is supposed to fit all Bunn machines both residential and commercial.
Hope this helps. It took me 2 hours on line to find the washers!

SOURCE: Bunn VPS Series Commercial coffee maker won't brew

Hello. I would like to suggest that you pour in water, with a container under the funnel, until water does come out, it sounds like the water has just evaporated too far, and it requires more than a pot to bring it to the top. In the future, if you do not use it for a day or more, you need to unplug it, or just pour a pot of water in to keep it at level, as this unit heats all the time it is plugged in, and can actually evaporate all the water away, blow the element, damage the thermostat, or worse permanently damage the unit.

here you can find the user manual:
http://bunnomatic.com/pages/techdocs/manuals/pourbrew_warm.html

Hope that helps, and thank you.

What are the instructions for preheat after turning our bunn coffee maker off over night - there is not off switch, plug in only

* Bunn model # for specific solutions.
* Most Pro/Office models have a pre-heated tank.
* Most models (Without Vacation or heater switch) will be heated all the time.
* Care must be taken to keep the inner tank filled.
* Pour cold water into fill tray till water comes out of the brew basket.
* Water will stop coming out of brewer once the tank has been topped off.
* If pot is not able to brew after 20 mins of pre-heating. Then call for service.
* Note; most office and Pro machines used in food establishments are from coffee vendors. The larger machines should be serviced by qualified Bunn service techs.
* Contact your coffee vendor or Bunn service ctr for advice.

Bunn coffee maker leaks

VPR has a semi-sealed tank that keeps +1 pot of water heated and ready to brew. Pouring in a full pot of cold water will fill the top tray and allow a slow trickle of cold water into the top which forces hot water to over flow into the brew basket. This continues until all the cold water drains into the heater tank. So the brew is matched volume per volume. UNLESS the tank was empty or not filled prior to brewing. Follow the brewing instructions from Bunn (on line for *FREE* download at Bunn.com)
* If it leaks (from the bottom) only when you pour in water. Then your pouring it too fast and over flowing the fill tray. slowdown, watch the level in the tray. do not fill past the lid.
* If it leaks just sitting (not brewing) then there is a hole in the tank. Call for service.
* If it leaks after filling the tray half way. then the top of the tank has a leak, loose, cracked, or missing gasket. There is quite a few gaskets on the lid. Call for service.
* Final; Leaks are always bad around electrical equip. Best to unplug and call for service to be safe.

Bunn pour omatic commercial coffee maker will not brew and it leaks

VPR is a pour over "Volume Displacement" brewer. Required to completely fill the inner tank and heat prior to using brewer. BEFORE plugging in unit, water must be poured into upper tray and with brew funnel and empty pot in place. Keep pouring water into top fill tray until water drips out of brew funnel. Plug in VPR and allow it 15-20 mins to heat up. leave the pot as there may be additional water dripping. Remove power if there is any water spilling out from other places like the top pan cover or bottom of machine. With the initial heating done, take a full pot of water and slowly pour into the top filling tray. HOT steaming water should come out of the brew funnel to fill the (empty) pot. Prep is done and the machine can be used to brew a pot after 10-15mins of reheat time.
*** the machine you have needs to be checked for leaks in areas mentioned above. Water should only come out of brew funnel (if not present then the brew head or if that is missing then the brew pipe. All will need to be replaced prior to brewing.) Leaking under machine is an indication of leak(s) in pour tray, tank, tank cover, gasket, probe gasket. This machine like any used equipment should be checked out by qualified tech prior to use. Be aware that coffee vendors sometimes rent or loan brewers to customers.

Bunn vpr steams everything out fill hole and nothing comes through copper tube, even after cleaning tube and head.

Fill water tank until water comes out from sprayhead, THEN plug it in it should be OK.

IF the machine keeps blowing steam/keeps boiling the water, The thermostat is defective and must be replaced.

NOTE: If you don't use the machine for a couple days, UNPLUG IT. The water will evaporate if you don't unplug it.

On a Bunn VPR why is the water boiling out the top of holding tank?

This brewer has a dial type thermostat inside the top lid. I believe a small counter-clockwise turn (about 1/16 turn) should lower the maximum heating of the brewer. If the brewer is old you may need to replace the thermostat AND the High Limit thermostat... the small "button type" device on the top of the tank with wire to and from the heating element.

Hello, yes you are correct, it's due to the water boiling in the tank. take 2 screws out of the top panel, just under this panel you will find the thermostat (it's ajustable) turn the temp down on the thermostat, if this does not solve the problem your thermostat may be bad and you will have to replace it. You can purchase new parts from either bunn direct or from holiday house in california. if you have any additional questions please feel free to comment again. Good Luck! Mike

My Bunn coffee maker boiles over the top vent

Try taking the top off the unit (3 screws) and remove the pour-in tray (1 bolt) and turn the thermostat down. Replace the tray - making sure you put the silicone washer in - put the lid on, and try it again. If this doesn't cure it, your thermostat is bad, and you need to replace the unit.

Water Boiling in tank

Unplug the machine and remove the top. You will find a little box with a knob or a "T" on it, this is the thermostat. Just turn it down a little, put the top back on and plug it back it.
