GE phone model 29581 does not seem to have instructions for resetting voice mail ...my phone just keeps ringing and won't go into voice mail

Voice Mail is not a function or feature of any telephone set,
nor does the GE 29581 phone have an Answering Machine
System that might be confused with Voice Mail.

VoiceMail is an option offered by some (not all) Telephone
Service Providers. Check with your Telephone Service
Provider to learn how to go about using theirs if it's available.
The original GE 29581 phone User's Manual is available at: http://www.manualslib.com/download/59417/Ge-29581.html

Good luck!

Have you tryed calling your voice mail, after the massage it says keep or delete, and if you not sure--- listen to your messages........I'm sure you'll hear it or find it, you might have a four digit pin, put it in to delete, if that's not it go to contacts-find your voice mail box and clear the masages or in settings you can go apps and clean all your junk out. Even though my answering machine indicates it is on, noone can leave a message. The response is that the mailbox has not been set up.Can you help? Thank you.I have had this system for quite a while and have...

A "mailbox not set up" message is coming from your telephone line voice mail system, and not from your telephone answeringmachine. What this means is that the voice mail on the phone line is picking up before the answering machine has a chance, and since the mailbox hasn't been set up it can't take any messages. So there are two things you'll need to do.

First, you'll need to set up your voice mail. You may need to contact your telephone service provider for setup instructions since not all systems are the same, but here's how it usually works. From your home phone, call your own number so you reach your voice mail. You should get the message that your mailbox hasn't been set up, and will be prompted for an access code to get to the setup menu. The access code is usually the last four digits of your phone number, and you'll be prompted to change it to something else as part of the setup. Through the setup main menu you can record your greeting and set up other options like the ring count before the voice mail answers. Set it for a number larger than the setting on your telephone answering machine. (I have my answering machine set to 4 rings, and voicemail set to 6.)

Step two is to verify the ring setting on your answering machine. Four rings is a common default setting, but it's adjustable on the phone. Most newer phones have menus that you access from the handset to set change settings, while older models have a switch on the base unit.

Once the mailbox is set up and you have your answering machine set to pick up first, everything will work as you want.

My Panasonic Phone KX-T7630 rings seventeen (17) times before going to voice-mail. Desired amount of rings before going to voice-mail is four (4) to five (5).

This is just for your phone ringing when it's dialed, not for outside lines ringing on your phone.
From your intercom, dial *7104 (CF No Ans) 500 (if that's your VM extension) # That will flash your FWD/DND light to tell you it's forwarded on No Ans. Now on the intercom, dial *71324 The 713 part tells your phone to forward after xx seconds. 24 is about 4 rings. You can adjust the timing using 6 seconds as a ring cycle.

Call will not Transfer to Voice Mail

Typically you want your phone system to ring your phones (say extension 10, 11 and 15) and then if no one answers after so many rings the call is transfered to the port the voice mail is on (let's say it's port 16) The voice mail is set to answer right away but does not "ring" until the call is transfered to it. This way (at 4 rings) if a call comes in on line 1 and you answer after 3 rings but a call comes in on line 2 at the same time, the first ring on line 2 will not make the total = 4 and set off the voice mail. I would guess the port at your voice mail is not set to ring and nothing is set up to transfer calls to your voice mail. Did you set this up yourself? How did you program the phone system?
