How do I stop my de longi ECO310.BK coffee machine overflowing before it reaches the coffee holder i.e., from the body of the machine before the visible seals?

Problem occurred following a routine descaling (with Fe Longi descaler) . have stripped and cleaned the visible filters and seals but the water continues to leak from the boby of the machine even without the coffee holder fitted.

SOURCE: Keurig starts & stops without brewing coffee, just descaled

The pic is clogged with coffee or the air bladder is bad. Use the tool on the underside of the tray to clean out pic. If that doesn't work, the bladder will be bad.

SOURCE: Descaling De Longhi IFD Expresso Coffee Maker

In order to proceed with decaling of the espresso machine you need to have the solution appropriate for decaling an espresso machine.
Different brands of espresso machines, like Krups, Saeco, Gaggia e.t.a. have their own brands of decaling solutions. You should know that all of these are similar products so you can use them in all different bands if you don't have the one of you specific brand without any problem. So if you have De longi , Krups machine and you can only find Saeco decaling solution you can use it with the same results.
One thing you should have in mind Never use any Vinegar as a decaling solution since this will destroy some parts of the machines not instantly but in long term since vinegar is corrosive to this parts.
So the first thing is to remove any water fitters or small softeners that are included in you water tank. Fill the water tank with water up to maximum, dissolve your solution in the water you do need only two to three spoonfuls of solution.
Switch on the machine and wait to warm up. When the machine is ready you can turn the water knob and start getting some water in a pot. Leave it for a couple of minutes and then again the same. Do these until you draw off all the water with dissolve solution. After that leave the machine for more than 20 minutes. Remove then the remaining water with solution from the water tank, rinse it and fill it with fresh water. Now draw again continuously hot water from the machine in order to rinse it completely.
The last portion of hot water taste it to be sure that is pure clean and if not refill the water tank again and perform another rinsing.
Now the machine is ready to be used again.
Try to do decaling every 20 to 30 days.
If you plan to leave the machine unused for along time perform a decaling in order to avoid the possibilities of having the machine stuck when you will try using it again after a long time.
A machine which is used frequently every day is more secure to work fine even without any decaling but machines which are used rarely is more possible to have problems of stacking out in water outlet or coffee outlet.

Why is it leaking during operation?

Could need de-scaling. Scale builds up after time and reduces flow rates, increasing pressure leading to leaks. Give it a go with any generic de-scaling powder or liquid following the instructions. My coffee machine (different model) did similar and now works like new again.

Bloomfield coffee maker overflows, even with plain filter

The outlet of the cone filter holder is clogged. Normally its just a hole you can clean out but some units have a valve that is pushed up/open by your coffee pot. That valve may be clogged or if you changed the coffee pot it may not be opening due to the different pot. Clean valve or just remove it so the coffee will run into coffee pot.

My de longie coffee has been descaled only once in over 12 months when the descale light come on .. It has not come on since and I am sure it should be descaled now . How can I start a manual descale ?

Depends on how many times you have used it, before descale light comes on. Might not be able to manual descale, read instructions. You can buy Descaler Solution from all Supermarkets, but if unit working OK, leave it for a few Months, and see what happens..

I believe your problem is the filter basket holder is not seated correctly or the carafe is not completely inserted in the unit to push the brew pause lever up. The brew pause feature which stops the coffee from going into the carafe when you want a cup of coffee before the brew cycle is done. When you remove the carafe a spring lever stops the coffee from dripping into the carafe. When the carafe is inserted it must push the spring lever up to allow the coffee to flow into the carafe. If it is not the coffee will overflow and make a mess. The filter basket holder should be firmly seated in the unit so it will not have any play in it. Cuisinart recommends using a vinegar and water mixture but BrewRite Cleaner (Sodium Carbonate) available in the coffee section at Wallmart, Kamart and Target is fantastic. You can clean your carafe with BrewRite Cleaner and hot water by letting it soak a few minutes and rinsing. I will also clean your filter basket holder by soaking it as well and all your coffee residue will be gone with no scrubbing.

I need cleaning instructions

I used an air-compressor with a small soft rubber nozzle, and blew out the rubber over-fill port, the peircing needle and the reserviour inlet, and it started working like new. I have done this to two seperate machines - that were both having short-pour options, and it worked like a champ

Some leaking from the group head of the machine is totally normal while the machine is heating. The reason for this is that the valve that sits above the shower screen is simply a spring and rubber ball. The spring expands, creating a seal with the rubber ball and the boiler, once the boiler reaches a specific temperature. Until the boiler temp is reached, leaking from the group head will occur.
