My remote control for Haier tv stopped working, despite good batteries

Remove the batteries of remote control and press the on/off button for 1 minute facing the remote towards tv set. Then put the batteries back and yesss!! It works ??

It is just a quick look on eBay to see what
"Haier" means... metal parts from "remote" items are
typically the battery contact(s)...

No... I no longer throw them (tempting though it is)... but I do try to rescue them from battery damage

Look closely where the batteries live... if you don't see (clean) metal... comment me back... and I'll tell you how to clean... with a regular pencil lead (graphite) or white vinegar... and prep it with white lithium grease (ALL v-sparingly).

Relax... They (Haiers) don't look all that expensive
(you can always blame the dog... or imaginary "homework" dog).

Despite all the BATTERY Mfr. promises... can get corroded pretty well...

One reason a remote might get launched

We have a Haier TV model 3 HL32R2a, the cable remote no longer turns the set off or on or controls the volume. We can only do that with the tv remote. Tried putting in the universal code, and the Haier code and it didn't work. Please help.
