I bought a Lexmark 1200 all-in-one printer two years ago and it worked fine with my old, borrowed Dell laptop. Now, I bought a new Dell Studio Laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. It also has a 64 bit operating system. Now, my new laptop will not read the Lexmark set-up CD. What is wrong and what do I need to do to fix this problem?
You need to go to the "lexmark.com website" and download the new "vista" driver, it was looking for XP, and they are two different programs, also you can go to "control panel", and Open scanners and Printers, and see if the vista "hardware wizard" picks it up, and installs it too, let me know if this helps, god bless......
Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark X1200 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.

Thanks for trying to help. I tried both of your suggestions, but neither worked. I went to Lexmark.com and found the driver to download for my Lexmark 1290 printer. I followed all the instructions and even saw the words, "Installation Complete". But, when I put in my Lexmark set-up CD, it still didn't work. The same message popped up, "This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor." Do I still need to put in the Lexmark set-up CD after downloading the driver? I tried printing a document to the Lexmark, but the Lexmark printer does not show up as one of my printer choices in the printer dialog box. Any other suggestions?
I finally got it to work! The problem was...when I was trying to download the driver, I was pushing the button labeled "run" instead of "save". After pushing the "save" button, then I was able to push the "run" button to get it to work. Thank you for your help! I greatly appreciate it! :)
