Where is the throttle sensor

Bike fell over on the twist throttle side. Now hard to twist. Starter bottom and directional bottom not working. Battery draining. It will start with push jump but did backfire out exhaust. Drove it 5 miles. Have not ridden since.

SOURCE: My 1999 Harley Davidson motor cycle will not start after it fell over on the right side. What do think the problem is?

Possibly broke the hand controls or damaged the wires. If the grip moved its probably damaged.

THE BIKE WORKED PERFECT, I SHUT OFF THEN STARTED AND NOW NO THROTTLE.

Question edited for spelling > throttle.
Please don't type in all CAPS, it is considered SHOUTING and is difficult to read.

'year make model' would be useful!!

In my day, they had a cable to a carburetor, some still do. Even with fuel injection, they have a cable and a throttle position sensor.

When starting cold , I have to twist on the throttle. it doesn't go into high idle anymore. think its the eng. temp censor or air intake temp censor.

Need to know what it is. Twist throttle, must be bike.
Throttle Position Sensor is what I would check on car or bike if high idle not working.

Throttle positing senser on a 99ranger I changed it now the idle is way to high

The positioning of the new TPS IS OFFSET....It is possible to install it wrong by accident..I have seen this happen before..The pressure from the sensor plastic actuator has been installed and slightly twisted against the throttle lever inside which causes throttle to raise slightly....Wear safety glasses and disconnect battery..Remove sensor slowly and carefully while removing and watch the throttle lever inside to see if it moves in any direction...Carefully install it again making sure it doesn't twist the throttle lever inside where sensor mounts...The lever on the sensor should stay in its position...Carefully install sensor making sure it doesn't twist...Connect wiring and battery and start for a safety check.....It is possible to have a wrong sensor or faulty new sensor...Double check that it is the correct sensor...

Troubleshooting moto guzzi stone

Just a thought as you asked...sounds like a poor throttle position potentiometer ... throttle cabled to butterfly most likely and if ECU dosen't know throttle plate moved you will see this symptom . If electric throttle , can you see(hear) plate moving whilst twisting , if so measure resistance/voltage on pot. . I do not know if resistance of position sensor can be measured while twisting throttle or pushing plate (bike off , battery disconnected or ignition off)

My bike is hard to start battory is fine starter is ok altinater puttting out 14.4v ok but is very hard to start but when started it seams to run ok any awnsers

Assuming your bike has carbs, drain the carbs. Clean the air filter, install new spark plugs. don't go nuts twisting the throttle. Too much and the engine will flood.

Poor starter, plug gets wet, starts when bumstarted

First, get a fresh sparkplug. Next, charge the battery. Batteries usually only last two years or less. A battery that will not hold a charge will rob electricity needed for spark. On a bump start, the flywheel generates more electricity than a kick start. Give the throttle only one twist on your morning start if your bike has a power valve. The valve gives a shot of gas when the throttle is turned. Twist too much and the engine will flood. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Hard starting, dies when throttle opened quickly.

Sounds like a kill switch is going bad or ignition wire getting grounded along the frame or elsewhere. A bad ignition switch can do the same thing. Check the side stand kill switch if your bike has one. Check all electrical connectors. A loose or dirty connection can screw up the works.

Please rate this solution. Thanks allarismith!
