How do I get someone to come get this TV - Vizio VM60P 60 in. Plasma TV

It has always been a good rule of thumb when buying electronic equipment to buy the best you can afford. I would buy the SMART TV and sell the apple box. I remember reading in a 'get rich quick book' that there is always someone worse off than yourself. Believing this then there will always be someone that will buy your good quality second hand gear. My set sometimes does not come on. The reasons generally are:

1) I have turned off the power at the wall.
2) I have not pointed the remote at the TV but rather at the DVD player.
3) Someone pressed DVD on my universal remote and that took it off the control settings for TV.
4) The battery is loose in the remote after someone dropped it.
5) The battery is weak.
6) Someone turned off the TV manually using the switches on the side.
7) The little computer in the TV has become confused by a user trying to switch from channel to channel before each channel is "found" and displayed to screen. You turn it off and back on and proceed slower.
8) The station transmitter is off the air due to power failures.

Although not in the right category, because a TV is not an Accessories of a digital camera, I think I can help. Could it be someone put anything in the little headphone connector on your tv? (a child? someone in your house, who has listened with a head phone? someone who wants to make a practical joke?

When a head phone is inserted, the tv senses that, because some contacts are disconnected in the headphone jack. So is anything else is in the jack it looks the same for the tv. Please check eventually with a magnifying glass and some extra light.

Sounds like the motherboard on the TV has failed. Would recommend replacing the TV or taking it to a TV repair shop which may cost more than just replacing it.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
