Unfortunately, the manual on
http://www.korg.com/us/products/tuners/ga_40/

indicates that 12 string is not supported.

The owners manual can be downloaded at
http://i.korg.com/uploads/Support/GA40_EFG1_633661472559800000.pdf

The YouTube tutorial is at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of4CRajvq0E

with a 12 string, you can often tune the octave until the tuner sees the matching note. It won't see the correct string number, but an A note is an A note, whether or not it's an octave higher.

Hope that this helps.

I have a set of 11-48 12string i have never strung a 12string guitar before.can you tell me what string goes in what hole? 48 40 30 26 20 16 14 14 12 11 11 9

the Heaviest string of each string pair is placed at the top (closest to your nose). In fact, if you look at the nut, (the notched thingy that spaces and holds the strings at the right spacing up by the tuning pegs) the notches in nut are wider than the paired string for this reason. That may not be true on all 12 strings but it is on mine. So the typical arrangement is heavy string, matching string. Heavy String, matching string. Except on the bottom 3 pairs where the actual string thickness can be the same. One caution note here....when tuning a 12 string, tune it a whole step lower. So rather than tuning it at EADGBE, tune it at DGCFAD then use a capo on the 2nd fret to bring the tuning up to EADGBE.
The reason for tuning a whole step lower is because on the top 3 pairs of strings you normally tune the thinner string an octave higher to give that 12 string sound. So if you start tuning at EADGBE, those thinner strings for the top EAD strings are going to be pretty tight and they will snap. So much safer to tune a whole step lower and just use a capo!!! Good Luck

How change strings gibson guitar?

One of the best was to keeping your guitar in tune, is to also string it correctly and use new strings . Make sure the first winding of a new string around the tuner post goes over the exposed tip of the new string. The rest of the windings go under the exposed tip of the string. This will keep the string clamped firmly in place. Use 4-5 turns around the post for unwound strings, 2-3 for wound strings, in a downward spiral towards the bottom of the post as shown in the photo.-Tom, 30yr player.

I tune my guitars at 400 using a clip on tuner, which I believe is concert pitch I've recently bought a 5 string blue grass banjo .I set tuner to c mode to tune banjo is this correct

Actually, concert pitch is A=440 rather than A=400. Normally a 5 string banjo is tuned G (octave) D G B D though many variations exist.

How to tune 12 string guitar with ga40

Just use as if you are doing a 6 string ( instructions in the pack ) only play one string in each group at a time. The thinner string in a pair should be exactly one octave higher than the thicker string. Strings of the same thickness are in unison ( sound the same pitch )

How do you know what guage ernie ball strings are it just says regular slinky 2146?

Usually the guage of the strings is defined by the first string. In other words, light strings are usually 11s. 12s are heavier and 13s are heavier still. The string set that you list is a 12 which is a medium grade. The medium grade is also called regular as opposed to lights (11s) or heavy (13).

Hope this helps,

The D string on my new J-45 standard sounds unmusical , as if there are no rich overtones . I can tune the string with my electronic tuner but it never sounds musical. I think it has Gibson Premium...

Hi. Your guitar may not be intonated properly. You might want to try to level and balance the height and strings all throughout the neck. The level at the rear half (close to the soundhole) can be slightly higher than the front half (near the headstock). This can be done be adjusting the truss rod, nut and/or saddle.
Note: You may want to get a guitar luthier to do the trussrod, nut and saddle adjustments as these are very delicate procedures.

Is he tuner supposed to light up green when the string is correctly tuned?

Before turning the unit on, press and hold down the calib/batt switch to check the condition of the battery on the battery meter.

Then either plug in your electric guitar to the input side of the AG-6 or if tuning an acoustic guitar without electronics placing the AG-6 near the front of the guitar should work. You will not need to press a button to select which string you are about to tune. The AG-6 will detect it and the corresponding light will turn on when it is tuned within range.

Turn on the AG-6 and start by striking the low E (thickest) string while open. This is the number 6 string or 6E. Slowly turn the guitars low E tuning key untill the red LED below the 6E marking on the AG-6 lights up. Continue stricking the open string and turning the key untill the needle centers on zero and the 6E light remains on.

Repeat this for the open A string untill the 5A light turns on and the needle centers on zero.

Repeat for the remaining four strings, 4D 3G 2B and 1E, being careful not to over tighten and break them.

Tip: It may be a good idea once the low E string is tuned, to tune the rest manually, especially new strings or strings way out of tune. Then tune again using the AG-6 tuner.
.
If installing fresh strings you will probably need to stretch each string and re-tune, possibly several times, before they hold their tuning.

Need tuning button for a 1958 Giannini Craviola 12 string steel guitar and a new pick guard

Two websites that you can get almost any part you might need:

Warmoth

AllParts

If you don't want to wait for shipping, your local music store can have them ordered, but they'll most likely be ordering from one of these two sites.

Hope that helps!
