99 olds Intrigue factory CD player problem

Is there a way to fix the factory CD/cassette player in a 1999 olds Intrigue with the Bose stereo system? The CD player is scratching our CD's and only working about 20% of the time. (not sure if the cassette player works or not.) I don't want to get an aftermarket CD player because I have become addicted to using the steering wheel radio controls. Thanks!

I tried using a CD cleaner, I also tried using some compressed air to clean out whatever is causing the scratches. I would like to get something compatable with my current controls.

I am not sure about repairing the unit. Do you have a CD cleaner?
You might check with a reputable auto electronics shop, one that specializes in car audio. They may have an adapter that will allow an aftermarket radio to be controlled from the steering wheel. Rosen makes a nice am/fm/cd/dvd navigation unit that also has XM and iPod inputs. The hard part will be to find supporting interfaces and wiring harnesses to fit a 99.
