I have a Toshiba 50HM67 DLP that is "strobing" after replacing the bulb

Just changed the bulb and the color is good after adjusting settings but still flickers "stobes" but not as bad. Is this the light engine or ballast?

Actually it could be the color wheel issue not spinning at the correct speed. They are suppose to spin at 60 HZ. My suspicion is that it is slowing down so you are seeing with your eye the slower speed.

You have bad capacitors in the power supply that took out the regulator, or the ballast circuit is defective. Not really a repair for the novice. Good Luck

SOURCE: Cant find a ballast

The ballast is actually a switch mode power supply that powers the lamp. It is an
integral part of the light engine and is not replaceable. The light engine has a price
tag of $950. If you replaced the lamp with an after market one and not the Toshiba
lamp you can experience the same problem. Some of the after market lamps will
not fire at the same voltage as the Toshiba. The blue led will come on solid and the
yellow blinking. It will try to start 8 times then give up.

Greg,
I had the light engine on my Toshiba 52HM95 fail. Sent it to a company Tri State Modules for repair. Got it back as good as new for $249.00. Goto tristatemodule.com. I hope this helps.

Is the "color wheel" on a Toshiba 50HM67 DLP TV even accessible?

It is but they don't make it easy to get at as I believe you have to remove the whole Light Engine to get at it. They would prefer a qualified technician would do this type of repair.

Projection TV sets have three tubes - red - blue - green and they don't fail often...they are located inside the tv DLP TV sets use a single bulb and a clot wheel to make the three colors display...DLP bulbs do fail about every two years and will need o be replaced. Replacements can be found at www.TvRepairKits.com and its located behind a small door on the rear of the tv.

I have a toshiba 50hm67 the picture is prefect dont think the build is bad, but i have a humming coming out of the tv what could that be and how can i fix it.

If it is a high pitched or even fan like sound it may be the color wheel in that set which if I remember is not sold except with a complete light engine, do some research on that model for color wheel.

I no longer have the manual for my toshiba 50HM67 and it needs a new bulb. Is it something I can do myself ie is is it simple or difficult?

They make these sets for the consumer to be able to change the lamps all you need is a flat head screwdriver.

Recently replaced blown lamp for 50HM67 50 inch tv. Now have picture but clarity is off. Picture / screen words are very blurry. Toshiba referred a local repair company who mentioned that the problem...

If the picture was good before the lamp blew, there might be dust/splatter on the window in front of the lamp. Pull out the lamp assembly and look at the small square glass window that the light shines into. It should be clear and clean. If it is not, clean it gently with isoprophonol alcohol or screen cleaner.
By the way, there is no such thing as convergence adjustment on DLP TVs.
